Which is the better experience... in your opinion?? My sister is leaving for school this Fall and I'm trying to convince her that the best decision is to go off to a university.. (she's planning on going to Old Dominion University here in Virginia). Is commmunity college better?? Is attending an accredited university better?? Or would you rather attend school online which is the convenient rave of today?? Which offers a better education for your money??

I went to a comunity college before transferring to a 4 year college. I think that a community college allows you to take several classes before deciding which course of you study you want to pursue. I feel that going to a community college sets the foundation for a four year college. I am pursuing my Master's Degree online from an accredited college. I will be attending Walden University and can not wait.

I went to community college (I live in Canada) and graduated from a 2 year accounting program. I am now working full-time and the company is now paying for me to obtain my accounting designation (CGA, which is the US equivelant of CPA). The main difference between the two (at least here in Canada) is that college provides you with the basic theory and much more practical experience. University is more theory based. I prefer college because of the hands on methods they use. It makes for a much easier transition to the workforce. However, some programs that don't require that much training would probably be better off taken through a university. I know some employers here in Canada actually prefer students from a college because they usually require less training. As for the online education, I would stay completely away from that unless it is a well known university. Many of those online colleges turn out to be some sort of scam. Hope this helps a bit!
