Shenanigans! I got a house full of them!!

Ever since a kitten came into our midst, we've had our house turned upside down in ways we have not expected. Some things, we could live without (food stealing from our plates while we're eating, more frequent litter pan changes, etc.) Other things have proven to be quite an adventure in "parenting" when we weren't planning to.
First of all, let me introduce you to Baby Cat. She's about 4 months old and was about 4 weeks old when we got her. She was the sole survivor of a dog attack on her family. She managed to find her way under a fence where the dog couldn't reach. Her willingness to think fast and independently has proven both blessing and curse!
A few days ago, I was tossing dirty clothes down the stairs in order to take them to the basement to do laundry. Baby Cat thinks that everything that moves freely (be it airborne or along the floor) is something with which to play. So, she gleefully chased the clothes down the steps. She then crouched behind them at the bottom to see if any more "toys" would be forthcoming. That was when I tossed a bra down, simply planning for it to land with the other clothes. Instead, it landed squarely on her head (she didn't even duck!), her head in the cup. When she decided to back out of it (like cats seem to always attempt), the bra didn't come off. She kept backing up and the bra stayed with her. She finally decided to go forward and to the left at which point the bra finally dislodged itself and she was able to walk free. Meanwhile, I was laughing at the top of the stairs because I couldn't have done that if I'd tried!!
Then today: My daughter had placed her kite on the dining room table where the cats saw it fluttering in the breeze of the AC and thought it was a very enticing plaything. By the time she got downstairs this morning, they had punctured it full of holes with claws and teeth. So, she was angry and chased them away, breaking the kite apart in the process, but still leaving it on the table.
After she went to work, Tiki was up on the dining room table again with the Baby Cat in the kitchen. Tiki was half-heartedly batting at the kite tail when she decided that Baby Cat would be fun to chase. So, she positioned herself (you know - hind end hiked up, rocking from foot to foot in anticipation) and launched......taking the kite with her. The kite string was around her foot. This scared the holy h3ll out of her since she knew this kite thing wasn't alive, so she panicked and poofed and continued to run faster as the kite "chased" her into the kitchen! By the time I got in position to see everything, she had freed herself from the kite and was poofed twice her size on the opposite side of the kitchen staring at the kite. She then slinked to the protective comfort of the basement stairs to await salvation.
Meanwhile, Baby Cat was slowly approaching this new "life form" to see what it was or how it came to life. I wish I'd captured all of it on video, but I only got a picture of the kite on the floor. I still didn't yet know that the kite string was around Tiki's leg until I started wrapping everything up and, when I pulled it, Tiki went airborne from the steps since it again startled her. At that point, she was free from the string, so I wound it up and put it away after putting the kite in the trash. Only then did Tiki come out from the basement steps to sit OUTSIDE the kitchen on the carpet looking in in bewilderment. I got a picture of that, too.
So, do your furbabies provide this kind of entertainment for you? Shenanigans, even??

That's too cute. Sherlock seems to come up with something new to entertain me with each night. Last night it was because of a little fan I had. In my living room it just doesn't get very cool. I only have a tiny fan, and it has legs and arms. It's pink, and I guess a person would have to see it. I'd take a picture if I had a camera. So I put it on the floor last night, and Sherlock started stalking it. Round and 'round he'd go, growling...then he'd stop and start rubbing his head on the carpet in front of the fan (because of the air it was blowing). Then suddenly he'd drop to his stomach and slowly inch his way towards it. Shortly after he'd start running around and around it again. He's so funny.

Hey Jerz! Great to see ya! Been missing you! Those two sound
adorable, although extremely mischeivioius! I love badazz kittys!
Baby Cat sounds like my cats Cougar and Jaguar (RIP). They
were always getting into that type of trouble, but how I loved
them! Star and Luna get into trouble, but nothing like their
brothers before them! They are active, and get into their fair
share of trouble, but not like any of my other past kittys!
Star is a climber and loves heights! Luna is always into things,
especially closets left open! He loves to rearrange them!lol
And they both love to scratch furniture that they shouldn't and
don't listen to the word "NO" screamed at them! But, they are
so damn cute and I love their "innocent, I'm not doing anything
mommy looks"! What a fool I am!

Thanks, MDG. They are really fun to watch at times and maddening at others (like two days ago when Baby Cat chewed through my daughter's $15 headphones that she uses at work - talk about fur flying!!) I came down this morning to fine my tomato plant on its side - heaven only knows which of the two mischief makers did that. Argh!!

oh yea.right now we have upstairs cats vs downstairs cats going on(it's just where they choose to hang out).
the older cats come up to where my last 3 rescues are,and steal their toys.
last night it was the chirping bird toy.
now mind you, they have the exact same toy downstairs..but they wanted to play the dominance game.i ended up having to retrieve it and put it up for the night or i would have heard it chirping all night long.

hi oh thank you Jerzgirl for a laugh when I really needed it or
two or three as I kept reading. How much fun can a person have
when they have a cat and a kitten? he he I could just picture
what was going on, and kept laughing. My roomie was looking at
me like I had just completely lost it, but she often looks at me
that way anyway.lol lol. That made me think of the time my puppy
knocked over the kitchen trash can. then he pulled out a can, looked
at it and walked off, next thing I knew my black cat had just shoved her head into the can and then couldn't get it off.So there I was chasing down a terrified male tom cat with can on head, and a barking dog. Well midnight finally decided maybe I was not the enemy so I got her between my knees and pulled the can off. Luckily he was not hurt but his pride was wounded. He sat there and hissed at the puppy. Guess he knew who was to blame for the whole thing. When we sold our house to move into an apartment I had to give away my puppy and my cat, that was awful but they went to a very good home with loving kids and parents so that part was fine.

Oh, wow. That poor baby with his head in a can. And, they DO try to back out of things, don't they? You laugh and feel sorry all at the same time!
I just posted a video in a new discussion, too, so check it out. I guarantee you'll just love it and want to hold, cuddle, love, own the baby you see in the video!!

LOL. that was a great story.. And yes, with 14 cats and 4 dogs I have many stories..
a couple of which have been chronicled her on mylot.
It is always interesting to try and piece together what we think happened when we weren't around to see it.
My animals have tried to ruin the house tons of times, and some of these stories include flooding and covering the house in cheerios.
Here's a link to one story.. other link is included within this one...

And I don't think I would choose to live without animals in our life..
life would be so boring.

O-M-G!!!!!!! I think at that point I'd have seriously considered being pet free!!!!!
But, we love our household of felinity, crazy as it can be at times. Even when the little one destroys my daughter's headphones that she depends on to shut out the craziness at work. Yeah - there was no laughing at that one, I can tell you.
But, she's such a charmer when she wants to be, it's hard to stay mad at her!!
