What are the different rules when it comes to divorce in the different Religions? What does the Bible and the holy books of other religions say?

The Catholic Faith does not recognize divorce. You might qualify for an annulment depending on the circumstances but it is not a divorce. A divorce says you take it all back. An annulment says it never happened. This indeed can happen in cases where someone covered something up like one is married to another, has a disturbing, dangerous criminal past, and many other things.

well my religion isn't book based, but there is a lot of emphasis on the importance of honouring your oaths. my personal belief is that every time you make an Oath you are setting a mark upon your soul itself as a sign of committment to your word. in a marriage you are literally binding your soul to the soul of another with your Oath. if you break that Oath, the bond is broken, and leaves a scar upon your soul that will never go away. this isn't to say that people should stay together regardless of the situation. nobody should live in misery in an effort to stay true to an Oath, but they need to take the consequences of breaking that Oath, in bearing it's scar from then on. so it's not to be done lightly, or without trying everything you can to fix it first.
