When I was young, my mom never buy me things that I truly want, she would have me work for it. I used to do tasks like washing dishes, look after neighbor's kid, and other small tasks to make money, then only I can buy the thing i want. Now, I try to to this to my kids but they always ask me why they need to? Have you experienced this? http://investandworkathome.blogspot.com/2010/07/teaching-kids-to-earn-money.html

this is something we should do our parents and i totally praise what your mother did to you... we should teach our kids the importance of money.. the only way to teach that is showing the difficulty of earning money.. we should teach our children that there is no easy way of earning money...

Thanks for sharing that helpful information. I still don't have a child because I am still single, not yet married to a girl, and not yet able to impregnate a girl. But as soon as I got a child, I will teach him/her the lessons about making money! The earlier the better!

yes my children have all learned that nothing in this life comes for free, thatyou have to work to get the things you want and to be happy with the things you have. I once took my children on the fruit farms to pick fruit one summer holiday and they got to keep the money they earned, they were surprised and happy to see what they earned and saved the money up in their banks. they now all have good jobs and can budget ok. i think its me that need to learn to handle money a bit better lol

I never had a money education in my youth but i already teach my children about money at very young age.. I bought this educational game board called Cashflow kids which really help me educate my kids how to identify an asset from a liability..
