Where do kids get so much energy??

So.. I was outside playing with my princess today and she got them little legs going and was gone before I knew it.. headed towards the street. She thinks it's fun while it terrifies me to think of if I wasn't around. So, I say to her in a stern voice to stop going towards the street. She had soo much energy for it to be getting a little late and kept running back and forth, going up and down all in the grass but I realized that she was trying to get her blanket which was in the car.. LOL she is too smart!! I was whooped after a few minutes of running trying to catch her and chasing her... and I am only 22!!

It's not that the kids have more energy than us. They are just naturally curious and have less worries on their mind than we do. When was the last time a kid ever have to worry about the car payment or credit card or taxes. They just want to explore everything because everything looks to new and different to them. After they spend all their energy though, they fall into a deep sleep without any worries about everyday's life. How many of us can do that? Then again, kids are just naturally hyper all the time.

You know what?? You may be right. Life was sooo much easier as a kid, no worries, want something and you got it. Simple as that. My daughter is so genius-like. She is TALKING.. like real words.. no goo goo gaa gaa and she isn't even 2 years old yet. She actually talks better than my nephew and he's almost 4. Her doctor said that she is also intellgent already enough to be potty trained!! I am so proud to be her mom!!

I have a 4-year old, and like your princess, mine is also full of energy. In a typical week, he would have 3 martial arts classes, a skating class, a soccer class, and swimming everyday. Add to it than more than 3 hours of biking and running around he does in front of our house everyday. I think the reason they've got so full of energy is that unlike grown ups, they don't have to conserve it. While we pace our energy through out the day to make sure that we get everything done before going to bed, they just exert all theirs! And when they run out, they just sleep and 're-charge' wherever.

They also seem to recharge when they eat.. while adults get sleepier after they eat!

@bounce58 Awww wow.. he does a lot!!! But, that's good that you are involving him in those type of activities early and I commend that wholeheartedly. That is just wonderful. I know that it can be tiring and trying at times (trust me I do!!) but I am so forward to looking for the rewards that raising my daughter into a beautiful and successful woman will be. But, you are absolutely right!! @katsmeow1213 That could very well be true, also!! Thank you both for commenting!!

Sounds like me trying to chase my 2 year old around the pool! First he wants to go in the sprinklers.. and I have a 4 year old who I can't leave alone in the pool so I have to ask the 4 year old if he wants to go to the sprinklers.. if he says no then the 2 year old just cries until we finally go. Then after a few minutes there the 4 year old wants to go back to the pool, but the 2 year old doesn't. If I happen to have a day where the 2 year old doesn't mind being in the pool, all he'll do is spend the whole time getting out and getting back in again.. which terrifies me because I'm afraid he's going to fall, and he won't let me hold him while he does this, so all I can do is stand there waiting to catch him if he slips. It's not exactly running around.. but my nerves are shot after about an hour of going through this. We've never been at the pool for longer than an hour and half because I need a break after that!

Wow... I can definitely understand how that could be frustrating... but I try not to become flustered or angry in those type of instances.. because they really don't understand. And when I feel that way, I either take a break (like you said) or I look into my daughter's sweet face and remember that one day she will understand and THEN I can yell!! LOL sike Just hang in there hun and I will continue to do the same! Good luck!! Thanks for sharing your experience!!

wow it must be great to play with your daughter. well kids utilize the whole energy that they get from food. plus their new cells support them alot.. you know new things always woork fast. just like that and plus kids are programmed to be energetic..

Honestly, if you could tell me then we would both know where they get all of their energy from. I'm 30 now and I have a seven year old daughter and a three year old son and whenever they are with me (which the majority of the time at least one of them is with me), I get worn out so very quickly. Especially when we are outside it is quite the experience because it takes no time before I just want to lay down on the ground and they are running circles around me.

LOL That is hilarious. But I can truly say that I can relate to you. Even though I'm still quite young... my daughter has soo much energy that I can barely keep up sometimes!! I really need to build my stamina and endurance. But the funny thing is.. when you have children... you don't really need a gym!! lol Thanks for sharing!!

I guess the energy comes from not having a care in the world. That's probably why many people miss their childhood and wish they could go back to it. A lot of children do have that extra energy and I wonder where they get it from. Do their parents give them sugar or something? lol. Plus I think maybe they like experiencing new surroundings.

You're right! I so miss those days of not having to worry about money or anything of the sort... just living, eating, playing and sleeping!! Yea... those were the good ole days! Thanks for commenting!!

Yeah! this surprises me too. My little baby too has loads of energy and i just couldn't compete with all of that. But I also observed that he gets tires, very tires by the end of the day and sleeps very early. So I guess children do not have that extra energy, but have that extra excitement to explore everything and of course play. Their world revolves around nothing else but happiness and they find joy in whatever they do

Aww your baby sounds about like mine. Full of energy and curious about everything!! I be just as tired as her by nightfall. Luckily as she gets older, most of this energy will diminish as she gets into the things that kids do now which includes some form of technology lol... computer, cell phone, video games. Thanks for sharing your experience!!

They're new is all!:) My little niece is pretty much the same thing and she's very strappy too. I keep on telling my sister not to give her sweets because carbs make kids really hyper but for some reason, my niece always finds our stash of chocolates and candy no matter where we keep them.

Awww lol kids seem to LOVE candy and chocolate too.... It's like fueling them up even more and I wait for the sugar crash... only for it not to occur. My 8 year old niece loves to do that. I haven't yet started giving candy to my daughter because she isn't 2 yet. Thanks for sharing your experience!!

How old is she? I think they get it from their milk. That's the only difference from what they take and the adults. I tasted my son's milk and it is too sweet for me. All those sugars are making them hyper. But it's better that way than boring kids. =)

She is almost and yes she drinks whole milk... that's a good point. There is some sugar in pasteurized milk. But, you're right... if she wasn't lively and just sat around all the time... she wouldn't be normal and you're right, it'd be very boring... Thanks for commenting!!

Think about it you were probably the same way when you are small, so my theroy is that we use all our engery when we are little and that is why we are tired now, lol. I found my daughter to be full of almost endless engery. She is tree and we too her to gymnastics, then to mcdonalds where she ate 1 nugget and 3 apple pieces and then played for about 20 minutes, then we took her swimming for 2 1/2 hours. All this was the same day, boy was she tired, but sure enough she was up at 7am (she slept in!) the next morning ready to go again. I however was tired to 2 days after. I am already 31 so boy am I tried! Good luck and just think now you don't need to go to the gym!

I can't really recall when I was that small... but I do remember being very active. And you're right, little kids do eat a lot and ingest more food to give them more energy and taking naps throughout the day to reboot probably also helps a lot!! Good luck to you too, too!! Thanks for sharing!!
