Have you ever got so into a book that you were late to go somewhere?

There have been times where I read a book so good that it causes me to get engrossed in the book and little things such as looking at the clock are something that really slips by me. You just want to finish that one more chapter and then something happens where you just have to read the next chapter and we can all see how that snowballs from there. I read a book one time that caused me not to get to sleep until two in the morning because I really got into it because it was so good. This had an indirect effect of making me late to leave in the morning. Has this ever happened to you at any time? Where you read a book and you got so into it, that it caused you to be late to go somewhere. Looking forward to reading your responses.

There have been a couple times when I was that taken by a book; they were some of the Harry Potter books and books by Chuck Palahniuk. I like to read a lot, but there are few times when I have a sincere interest in them.

Yes, there are books that you enjoy. Then there are books that draw you in so deep that it's almost like you are there. Those are of the highest quality. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

I usually read before bed.Once I get reading a book,I have to say I end up staying awake late at night, because I want to find out more of what the book is saying,so it makes me read more and more at once.

Yeah, you always want to see what happens next. Then what happens after that. Then what happens after that and you really do get the idea. It can get pretty late by the time that the time is paid mind to. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

Well I used to get really engrossed in a lot of the good books that I read, but since I read so much I've learned not to let it get in the way of the things that need to be done. I've stayed up late finishing a few books but I don't let books keep me from school... (although I have put off homework for that infamous "one more chapter"). Reading is an addiction of mine, but I like to think that it's a healthy addiction and I don't let it get in the way of something else that's really important.

Oh, I know! I'm usually finished with half the book before I realize that I didn't stop at "one more chapter".

One more chapter is rarely one more chapter. You would think that I would have got that by now. However, I keep shushing that logical part of my brain. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

Hello Megamatt. Yes I love to read and sometimes I get lost in my own little world. I was once on a bus in London and I started to read a book that I'd just bought. About an hour and several stops later I realised I was miles from where I wanted to be, I'd missed my stop about 45 minutes earlier and had to find out how to get back to where I'd came from :)

See that is why I really try not to read in transit. Of course during those long trips, it does give you something to do but if you get into the book, then there could be problems. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

I do not think I have ever been late because I was reading a book. Back in High School I would read fanfiction or fiction online and when It was about time to go to school I would print the rest of it, or some of ti out and read it on the way to school, or in the cafeteria at school. I have stayed up later to read before, and it has caused me to sleep in, but never where I'd been late for work.
