Hi! I am trying to think of certain topics which I can write about for an article I wanted to submit online, but apparently, since 3 days ago, I cannot get my thoughts and concentration focussed and decide what to write about. Did any of you ever experienced a writer's block? How did you cope and what are the things you did to gather your thoughts and be able to write?

It is a state of mind that do not allow to receive creative ideas and thoughts that the writer needs at that moment. One can make an analogy of this situation to the ocean getting suddenly violent with high and long stretching tides completely engulfing its state of stillness. At times, mind gets disturbed by stray thoughts that create obstacles in the process of generation of creative thoughts.Under this situation, any kind of effort to force the mind to concentrate on something not supported by mind do not yield any positive result. Hence, one needs to move with the flow of thoughts that mind produces at that moment by making a natural diversion to some other tasks in harmony with the nature of mind. However, this can not be permanently eliminated. Thanks.

Yes, this is ver, very common. I normally need to clear my head when this happens...Because when I am in a period of writers block I find that my mind is cluttered with a lot of nonsensical thoughts. Go for a walk..Take a bath..Just do something that allows your mind to calm and you will find that you will regain focus soon enough.

With experience, the quality writer learns to persevere and not worry about having few thoughts for writing. Once a writer understands this, then it becomes possible to write, even if it's just a few sentences, every day.

Yes, every writer goes through this from time to time. Just yesterday, I was totally blank while I faced my pc monitor and couldn't find the right words to capture what I was feeling. What I do when I get it is to take a break, watch tv, relax and just totally forget that I have to write. Sometimes, I even read a book or do things out of my usual routine like taking a walk or going shopping. Take time to breathe. The gems will come out later.

Yes, I have, I wrote fan fiction that I haven't updated SINCE HIGH SCHOOL. When I get stuck, I really get stuck and I've been stuck on dozens of stories for years.
