Marriage between blood-relations?

A few days back, I had read a discussion, initiated by one of our friends, on this matter and he was vehemently against such matrimonies. He had also received number of responses and all mylotters agreed with his view. They had vehemently criticised such moves which, according to them, lead to number of deformities in the children out of such wedlock. I also agree with the views and such practice must be discouraged. However, such relations, depite being looked down by the society, we do get occasional reports about such relations. It appears I am deviating from what I wnted to ask my friends. When God created this World, He also created Adam & Eve and allowed them to make physical relations so that human race starts increasing. When they produced children, obviously they did not have any choice but to make physical relations amongst themselve only. This went on and on till world had sizable population allowing them to have physical relation with distant relatives or strangers. Children produced by Adam & Eve, probably, did not have physical deformities despite such thing going on for generation. I request my friends to please guide me on this matter and if I have committed any mistake in taking up this discussion, I apologise.

Well thats not good at all , it may cause various kinds of diseases in children of people with same blood and mating, apart from that its unethical also and can be dangerous for a nice balanced civil society. Also its against the law.Personally i find it ridiculous to even think that way.

We all against incest, and that is wrong according to our standard moral. Blood related relation should be forbidden in all level and all society. We should know better than anyone else. We should make it clear to our next generation, especially we are living within a well - developed society.

I agree. Thanks for your response. However, please note that marriage with first cousins is allowed in some religions. Thanks, Sweta, for your response.

udaymohan while here in the US its not considered wise to marry first cousins back a few centuries my great grandparentsandgr gr grandparents did marry first cousins and I have not found any bad effects on the children when I did my family tree.No idiots or mentally retarded people at all.I think what happen is they lived in small towns and there were not a whole lot of men andwomen to choose from and too they did not know anything about birth defects causes and genetics as that all came much later. I do not believe in close blood relations getting married at all.

Hatley, marriage is never good in close relation. It could lead to several problems. It is good to know that great grand parents and great parents were lucky. Now such marriage are looked down. However, there are some religions where marriage does take place with first cousins.

In ancient times, people know nothing about probable genic diseases result from marriage between blood-relations. As science theories and civilization degree have made progress greater and greater, human beings become to know that marriage between blood relations is wrong. Meanwhile, sense of morality is getting stronger and stronger among human beings,so people think it is immoral to get married with blood relations.I think it is a great progress for human beings. There is no significance to suspect whether this kind of marriage is wrong or not only judged from marriage between Adam and Eve.We moderen people should think about problems with developement of time, right?

You are absolutely right. At that time people were simply not concerned about genetic deformation. They were only concerned to increase population. Besides, we do not have any recorded history on what they felt at that time. Thanks.

Adam and Eve were created perfect so there was no imperfections to pass on to their children. However, after the fall, imperfections were increased generation by generation until there is now a great danger of physical deformities with close blood off spring. In the same way, these imperfections that we are born with mean we are unable to get anywhere near God as He can not look at imperfection. This is why Jesus talked about being born again and having our old imperfections covered by his perfectness.

Thanks for your response. I think you are right. Adam and Eve were created by God himself and obviously they were perfect couple devoid of any malfunctioning. We in herited such problems after generations because fall in our food and other habits and are being punsihed by God.
