Hi mylotters :D I love scrapbooking and it's a hobby of mine. I wonder what materials you guys prefer for your scrapbook. There are premade materials you could buy in scrapbook stores or bookstores. Such as stickers, specialty papers, dried leaves and petals, strings, beads, frames, and other varieties. And there are also stuffs you could create yourself like dried petals from a flower gifted to you, or a drawing on a piece of paper made by your kids, or buttons that drop from your favorite dress, cutting the designs on the giftwrapper wrapped on you christmas presents and so on. Premades or your own creations? I use both premades and my creations so that I place a sweeter effort on my scrapbooks. I use stickers with letters and smileys because I am not used to cutout from magazines since we have very few.I also stick on tissues served on restaurant where I wrote messages for my friend, the cinema ticket from my favorite movie, and the gift wrapper that held my favorite gift. How about you guys?

I use both. I also have a cricket and a cuttlebug so I can cut out special things for special pages. It's so convient to have that as it cuts out letters etc as you need them. Too many of the premade ones don't have enough letters to do more then one thing.

Ah, I haven't seen a cricket nor a cuttlebug yet but I have an idea of what they could look like, I have seen a puncher before that instead of punching a round hole to the paper, it has a shape. There are different kinds of shape with every puncher but those kind are somewhat expensive so I just look at them from the shops. It has shapes of animals, balloons, toys, food and so many random stuffs. If I would own one the I would glue a colored punched paper to my scrapbook as alternative for stickers.

Hi there Oxyde Gyabo! I love scrapbooking too! Even though I don't print out much pictures nowadays and just upload them directly into my Facebook Account to share them with my loved ones, there are really special occasions when I print out photographs that I have taken. I'm really thankful for digital cameras since you can choose which ones to print and wouldn't have to worry on wasting money and effort on films when shots go wrong. When making a scrapbook, I prefer indigenous materials for the scrapbook itself and also for the decorations that I use. I usually include some real mementos like love letters that me and my husband exchange, table napkin from our first date, my son's ultrasound and his baby name tag when he was born, stuff like that.

I agree :D Digital cameras made it easier to let us choose pictures that we want without films. I also placed mementos in my scrapbook, my boyfriend ate once in a restaurant and we exchanged messages on a table napkin and I kept it too ^_^ Natural materials look classical and really nice on scrapbooks and a nature theme looks calming. When I look at the pages of my scrapbook with leaves and petals, I feel a cozy ambiance. Thanks for sharing your insights and ideas nanayangel :D

I am limited to materials that I can use for my scrap booking. I generally use stickers, pre-cut out stencils, and die cuts for my creations. I don't really use beads or flowers, and that's only because they are much to expensive. I would like to do more scrap booking this winter, but there is limited space and I can't keep these things laying out the way I would like.

I also encounter those problems. A friend suggested to me that I should have a scrapbook made for a particular purpose. Like for example, a scrapbook for stuffs from your high school years... or a scrapbook when you were at the beach. Beads and dried flowers can be handmade too. For flowers, get an old book and press petals in the middle and leave it in a dry cool place. (like a closet) For beads, cut magazine into long triangles, then using a stick (I prefer bbq sticks) glue the base around it and roll it to the very tip.(* without gluing it to the stick). It looks nice with a clear nail polish to get the shiny effect. then remove it from the stick when the polish is dry. (It's rounder if the triangle is longer) Hope you like this resourceful tips :D Here, pre-cut stencils are more expensive than beads though.. so I cut my own foam papers using a cutter
