both of them are confused for the same by many people...but they are two different things...and almost mean the same... being religious means you are following a certain religion..the rules set by them...in the religious books...you believe in something external like God.. and sometimes you have to do something that you don't like to do..but just because its written there in these books,so you do it... but being spiritual is believing in yourself..not that it doesn't involve God...but in this we do what we feel right and good about..there are no boundaries..you just don't believe in God as in something external...but its something that lives inside you.. Its not that a person who is religious can not be spiritual...they can be both of them....iam more spiritual than religious...but still...it doesn't mean..I don't believe in God..

i am more spiritual then religious. to me being religious most of them make things up as far what we should or shouldnt do, and how we need to treat people. where for me being spiritual is i am all about God and Jesus doing the right things and doing what they both want me to do. to sit there and have a priest or pastor, and even a minster tell me no i cant do this or that, i need to do this and then turn around and do the total opsite thing. yeah no.. but to me most people i find is suppose to be religious treat more people badly then someone who isnt. and they are the first to sit there and judge others. and come up with the dumbest excuses why they do the wrong things and why they treat others the way they do

i think the two are closely related, but if you will mind these two, there would be slight differences. :)

I wish to be spiritual because "An unexamined life is not worth living." I think a "spiritual mind" always leads me to a more valuable life.

I believe religion is different from spiritual in the way that you have to follow a strict set of rules that detail right and wrong. I think spiritual is more that you know that there is a higher power that controls things but the set of right and wrong is more what you make it to be. I myself am niether. I'm one of those sciency people who think religion and spiritualness is a waste of time. But if someone else wants to believe in god or whoever, who am I to stop them?

Spirituality is something internal.Religion is something external. The difference between religion and spirituality is in form only, for the true essence of all spiritual and religious practices is God. For being spiritual, you don't necessarily need to attach yourself with a religion. If you are spiritual minded, you can enjoy all the good concepts provided by all religions in this world. All are different paths to the same goal. All religions stem from the same source.
