The first chapter of the bible is filled with mistakes! Far from perfect as a lot of people claim...

Hello rodlar and welcome to myLot. You claim that the first chapter of the bible is filled with mistakes. You need to elaborate what those mistakes are.

The first part of Genesis is like an out line of what god did during creation and the details given later in the chapter. If you read the flood story right Noah was not an old man he was only middle aged since he lived to be over nine hundred and fifty years old. Besides God would bring those animals to Noah. He wouldn't need to get Pandas just bears As with dogs and cat the panda would come later as do the verity of dogs did.

The story of creation. God creates earth in the dark, then came the light (funny because the sun was created later, where did the light come from?). He creates man twice. The flood is clearly a myth. First god tells Noah to gather 7 of each animal, then only two. And how could an old man like Noah gather a two of each animal??? He went to China and Australia to pick up Pandas and Kangoroos?? Those are just a few examples... there are plenty more...

The bible is full of mistakes, contradictions, and immorality. Those who take it literally cannot explain these issues. Those who decide the bible is meant to be interpreted fall into the trap of having to admit there is no one agreed upon interpretation. How can anyone tell which stories are allegory and which represent reality? They would have to admit the possibility that all the stories regarding Jesus may just be allegory, as there is no proof of his existence at the time of his supposed life.

Josephus a historian of that time wrote about Jesus. There are others that wrote about Jesus too. They are Tacitus, a Roman, Another source of evidence about Jesus is found in the letters of Pliny the Younger to Emperor Trajan. Pliny was the Roman governor of Bithynia in Asia Minor. Jesus was written about out side the bible.

If there are errors in the Book of Bereshit, they are human errors. They are errors of interpretation, translation and expectation. There are big gaps in the information contained in many of the books of the Tanakh. Is this the fault of Hashem or the fault of man? I would blame man not Hashem. Do we have to be spoon fed everything or can we not figure some things out for ourselves? In our meager intelligence can we not figure out that our earth is more than 5 or 6 thousand years old? That maybe the numbers in the Tanakh are meant to be interpreted differently than literally? There are so many ignorant people who cannot think for themselves. There have been wars fought over people's inability to think and lives wasted for this reason. Do not perpetuate this. Learn to think for yourself. Believe in Hashem's Word, but do not pick at the small stuff. Shalom~Adoniah

What are the mistakes that are in the first chapter of the Bible? Please don't tell me that mistakes made by church leaders of old, but the Bible mistakes.

We are able to see the mistakes today because we try to view the facts written there scientifically, but science itself keeps revising its earlier theories. First science said that earth is flat then it said it is round then they said it is slightly tilted. Only thing is religion does not change it stance. It sticks to its spoken truth. If you do not want your faith to waver, do not try to find mistakes. Believe in everything that is written. Believe in Jesus Christ that he is Son of God; believe that He is the only way.

The church said the earth was flat, and when science said otherwise, they put Galileo on trial and almost killed him. Scientists admit mistakes, that's the good thing about science. The bible on the other hand doesn't admit mistakes.

rodlar, you said it the other way around. Galileo was the scientist. Church believed earth was flat, and Galileo said it isn't. However, it was only recently Pope admitted Church's mistake. Thanks, nevertheless for your comments.

I don't think the bible is perfect. People wrote the bible and not God. God wouldn't make these mistakes but humans would.
