I think Certifications only give you an added advantage, when it comes to filtering of resume. If there is a candidate who is a graduate and a candidate who is a graduate with a certification in a specific field, the person with the certification is given the first preference.

Hi hselial, yeah most likely the graduate with a certification in a specific field would get the job, but it depends. If they are both running for the same job, which i highly doubt since the one who has a certificate in a special field is more likely to go for a better job, job which the other one wouldn't get because he wasn't specialized, but if they both choose the same job the choosing of a better candidate can depend of various factors such as: - Competence. - Technical skills. - Attendance while he was at school (because they can check that out? - Behavior (they can also check that out either by looking at you or just by asking old teachers of yours. - Criminal record (In case it is dirty it can really have an impact, some places like the FBI don't accept anyone with a dirty criminal record= - Expression (You're ability to express your self, can have a very big impact, normally they opt to choose confident people, that can express themselves in a proper way. - Experience (This is probably one of the fundamental aspects, if you have previews experience or achievements it counts a lot) - University (The University you come from has also a great impact, because if you have a law student for example who comes from any community college, even if they have a specialization certificate, i think that a Harvard Law student without a certificate would be preferable. Anyway, that's my opinion, i hope to have helped you, i think it's more discussions like this that myLoft needs, you chose a nice and very interesting topic.

It is just an accessory to your resume. What speaks best is your qualification and work experience detailed and easy to understand.

Hi hselial, certification is a definate plus in your resume screnning. But also expetations are high as the interviewer will think that you do have a good knowledge of particular field. It gives the definate plus that what ever you have done till date you have a valid certification for the same and you do have a good knowledge. It is kind of acknowledgement. Many times I have interviewed the person with certification but was not knowing much, the reason was getting the certification by just reading dumps and clearing the test. It is always good to have both practical knowledge as well as certification.

That's also what I can say about those certifications. It really give you an edge over the other candidate once you have those certifications that they most needed. Sometimes certifications can easily acquired and get anywhere so its really difficult to tell which one is fake and real. Other companies dont do background check. However its still good to have those certification

Yup certification does give a bonus hand but as i said it's only an added incentive and nothing more. I believe that the talent of a person comes from withing himself.

Certifications are good enough to prove that you used to do something well. but it doesn't prove that you can do thing well in the future. cause someone just tried hard to get a certification but not the skill that includes.
