The world is coming to the end.I have finally found a Dallas Cowboy to admire! Being a Redskins fan I never thought this would ever happen! Rookie Dez Bryant refuses to carry the vets shoulder pads and said he was there to play football not to carry another guy's shoulder pads. Bravo. The vets are shocked and so am I. A youung man who Knows what he will and what he won't do! I admire that. So here I sit hoping this can get him trader so I can Truly root for the guy. Bravo.Your thoughts.

When I was in university, I joined a lot of organizations. Even a fraternity! All of these organizations had some form of hazing before you can become a full pledge member.
Although I respect what Bryant did, as being stubborn, and knowing what to do, I think he is missing the point here. These traditions, although may seem silly now, are the ones that create camaraderie. Years from now, when most of these players are retired, I bet they would still be talking about these hazing that they went through.

When you joined did they tell you what hazing that was required? If so, then it is ok. Dez didn't know so he reacted the way I would have. He has since said if he knew this was required , he would have carried the pads. But I also heard that the Cowboys' management has stopped all forms of rookie hazing. So I guess the suits want keep Dez.Damn! I was hoping they would trade him so I could really root for him.

When I joined the fraternity, I always knew there was some form of hazing that was required. Although 'the brothers' never talked about it openly, they always insinuated that it was something to fear. Mostly it was all talk, and to discourage me from joining the group.
I'm glad that I went through that tradition. Twenty odd some years later, we still exchange emails and jokes about what happened during my hazing period.

I think in some ways that is not being respectful to the veterans! Then again the veterans might respect what Dez Bryant did! It could go either way! Me personaly, I think it was wrong and that you should respect the veterans! I just hope Dez Bryant doesn't become a prima donna like T.O. or Chad Ochocino! We don't knew more players like that in football!

With a little soul searching I now know Why I love this type of thing. Dez is being stubborn. I was born stubborn. I love it when I see anyone do exactly what I would have done. But then again I have never played team sports for a long time. and I think it would have been different if Dez knew it was the tradition. But again maybe not.
