Admission of ignorance

A few days back I had initiated a discussion captioned 'Do you endorse marriage between Gays and marriage between Lesbians?' I received a flood of responses which I can term them as violent. Some of my friends vehemently criticised me and some even mentioned that I had been tutored by some minister or priest to take up this matter. Some even hinted drawback in my religion which was obviously not in a good taste. My religion is Hinduism and I am proud that I am a Hindu just like Christians feel proud that they are Christians. I admit that before raising the issue, I should have thoroghly read about it. A mistake which I feel is really unpardonable. My friend in mylot reminded me that gays and lesbians are also human beings and God had made them like that. So what is wrong if they marry and live together. I agree that I had not looked into that aspect. I also admit that I never knew that animals are also homosexual. I stand educated by all of you my friends. In fact, in my religion also there are number of gays and lesbians and there are some cases of their marriage also in my Country. There is strong undercurrent to give legal sanctity to their marriage. Quite possible, it has been already given. I do not know. I promise that I would be more careful from next time. I read my discussion and, believe me, I also find it offending. This discussion, at least, told me some facts which I did not know. Thanks, friends,

you know, I can't blame you. Me too, don't patronize it. God made man for woman, and woman itself for man...not for a girl to girl or man to man relationship. If it is allowable, at beginning.....God should made man for man. and vice versa. Well, don't mind them about their comments, it's your opinion. Yes, they are human also..... and we recognize them as member of the third s__.....but to allow them and be legalize their marriage that's a big no-no... the weight of it can be categorized as abortion. No Priest or Lay Minister who taught me top say these things...but I really discourage same boy to boy or girl to girl marriage. That's against the Law of God.

while i was not around when you posted that discussion, it would seem that you would get passionate responses since it is a topic that is still quite volatile in today's society. It is honorable that you apologized for your lack of information and not tried to make excuses. I believed you learned something important in your life and will most likely not repeat the same mistake again. It reminds me of an old saying, I don't remember where i got it from but it has stuck with me over the years. When you make a mistake, "don't justify, modify" Good job

Hi Udaymohan, Obviously you just didn't know and you did not mean to be offensive. Live and Learn. Anyway, I commend you for being a big enough person to admit it and start this discussion.

hi udaymohan I do think that here we should not just jump all over one other over religious views. I am sorry if some have been violent as theres just no justification for that. You as a hindu of course are proud as ypu should be, just as I as a Christian am proud of it. We must all of us respect each others right to our own religions. We all are worshipping God and that should bring us together but evidently it does not always do that.

I admire your humbleness and sincerity. However, do not be too quick to believe everything you are told. I try to research supposedly true facts some mylotters tell you. For instance, animal homosexualty. A very good web site on this is: www.narth.com/docs/animalmyth.html. Please check it out. Things are not always as they seem.

I admire you for admitting your mistakes in public. Not every mylotters,or person in real life is open to admit their mistakes esp here in the net. That is one good quality of yours and i believe you never mean to offend anyone, you just want to share your opinion and wants to know other's opinion too. It is always proven that,we learn more from mistakes than from success. Have a good day always

Thank you for your admission to learning some new facts. Its refreshing to see someone who admits to their ignorance about a subject rather than just pretending they know it all. Good for you! Best wishes!

I never saw that discussion, and quite honestly, I probably would've never dared to comment on such a touchy subject that I am in no way an expert in. I do, however, applaud you for being decent enough to admit your "ignorance" or oversight. Happy myLotting :)

I never saw this topic but I am sure i too wouldn't have commented anything on the topic. We are all human beings and we do mistakes. I hope you learned from mistake and now take corrective action which you have already done by apologizing to the user of mylotters. Way to go!!!!
