Dorian Gray the movie

I've watched the movie, it has obscene scenes that I have to fast forward the video because I'm watching with my siblings. Ignoring those, I've thought about the idea that the movie manifested. "Would you trade your soul for eternal youth and beauty?" When he was drawn in a painting by a family friend, another friend asked Dorian if he would like to keep that pretty face like the one in the portrait. Dorian Gray agreed to that and had abused his charming looks. While he kept sinning he noticed that his painting rots and becomes frighteningly ugly that he had to keep it away in the attic as a secret. Great was his fear to have anyone know about it, he had killed a the painter just to keep his secret untold. In the end, he lost his beloved and had not aged like his acquaintances after several years. When he fell in love again, he realized he still has the fear that his secret would be discovered and he might get his lover killed in his own hands. Knowing this urge, he decided to destroy his painting. If I were in his situation, I would not trade my soul to keep youth because I don't particularly value beauty and longevity. My goals are a fulfilling and loving life with the ones I treasure most. Anyway, the movie was pretty good. I would like to earn for the book but I can't find it in any near bookstore. How about you would you do the same? And what would you rate the movie?

I found the movie boring actually. I ended up disappointed when I watched it. It wasn't what i was expecting from the story of Dorian Gray. I guess I still remembered him as a character from the Extra ordinary league of gentlemen movie. I thought it was an adventure/action type kind of movie. I guess the next step for me is to read the book so I can understand the character better. But personally, the movie was slow paced.

Yea, quite boring in a way. There were many reviews of the book that said it was a great story so I thought the movie would do great too. It was a disappointment but at least the story had sense. "We should never exchange our souls to a demon for lifelong beauty and youth". lol. Thanks for sharing juryse

I think the book is very accessible in any library and if you ask for it at the bookshop they can order it in for you. As for the movie, it was a big disappointment, not done very well at all and vey monotone. Colin Firth was great but this film is also his niche so he better be damn good after all these years of experience. Ben Barnes was well cast for his looks, but unfortunatly the script just didn't allow the character to develop. The picture of the whole film really dragged and was dull, grey and lifeless...such a good story, such good material, but not done with justice...

Yea, I guess there were boring parts that I almost slept and it's true that everything is dull and the story is monotonous. I wish I could have read the book first so that I could find out how the real story goes. Thanks for the response, Bellapop
