It is getting less attention than AZ and will probly catch more illegals.
Looks like we might have new tool to help us get the illegals out. As you can guess the "amnesty" support groups are completely against it. Go figure.
Now if we could only secure the border so that when we deport them they don't come back over.

Tell what you think of ICE's new toy? Good idea? Bad idea? Will it work?
The feds are doing this yet they have the nerve to go after AZ for their law?

I think it's a good idea and have to question the real motivations behind the arguments given by the jurisdictions that don't want to participate. Not all illegal immigrants are innocent fruit pickers just trying to support their families. We have too many criminals here who Mexico would rather not have back.

I don't understand why anyone would be against this. Except the illegals because they don't want to get caught. LOL

I actually thought that, if you were arrested and you were in this country illegally, that it would show up immediately...like if you had no social security number...and you would be turned over to ICE. I guess I don't know much about being arrested...LOL!

I don't know how it works either....but if they have fake paperwork I guess the local cops would not know it. So I guess this new way with the finger prints works faster and easier for them to tell who is illegal and who isn't IF they have been convicted of being illegal before. It won't work on 1st time offenders...but anyone who has been caught and deported before would show up from what I understand. Or if they had ever committed a crime in the US.

I am in Colorado and didnt realize they were doing this. I did know however that everytime you are "booked" into jail, you are fingerprinted and your picture taken. It has been this way for years now. I think this is a great idea. It states only when your booked do you get fingerprinted. I think they will be hard pressed to find whats wrong with this.

I don't have a problem with it either...but for some reason some of the pro amnesty groups do.

I wouldn't think anyone who is in favor of "amnesty", or some kind of a pathway to citizenship would want to protect those immigrants who had committed serious crimes. Personally, I think it's a good idea and the difference between this and the Arizona law is that there is no danger of racial profiling or discrimination that I can see. Also, since immigration is a federal issue this is the right way to handle it.

It would seem that the "pro illegals" groups do not want ANY of them deported of any reason. they say this violated their rights...well if they are violent criminals..well what about our rights to be protected from them?
I shocks me that they will take up for them. But they do. it seems the think they all have to stick together no matter what...when it would look better on those groups if they stop trying to protect the criminals.
But if it is a federal matter...why are they installing these machines for the state and local police to use...then contact the feds to come get them if they are found to be illegal. AZ's law says they can ask for "proof of citizenship" if they suspect someone is illegal..ie paperwork...(which can be faked) with this one...the local police can run anyone arrested prints through the machine to see if there is a match...anyone arrested for any reason. Not just serious crimes...but anyone detained for ANY reason. Public drunk, failure to show to court for a speeding ticket, DUI, heck in my state you can be arrested immidately if you get caught driving 15 miles over the speed limit...not just the violent stuff.. This federal tool has more potiential to be abused than the other...because a cop can come with one ANY reason to detain someone if they want to..then run them through the system with their fingerprints to see if they are illegal.
But personally...I just want them gone. That is one positive thing about what AZ has done. It has not cost the ICE a dime and tons have deported themselves. Too bad it was just to another state instead of out of the country. now if we got tough nationwide like AZ...most would deport themselves completely back to their own country and we would only have to pick up the few stragglers....and secure the border so they do not come back.
Also fix our vista system so people can't over stay them.

I do have a question annie...why ARE the pro amnesty groups supporting the criminals among the illegals? A lot of the pro illegal groups don't want the government checking on anyone's legal status and they want blanket amnesty for all of them. Why? You would think sense they want to be citizens of this country so bad that they would want the violent criminals out as much as we do. But they all seem to stick together no matter what. I don't understand it. It makes them look bad and does not help their cause at all.
So why are they doing it? Why are they trying to protect them too? what do they have to gain by it? Maybe you can explain to me because I can't figure it out.

I can't answer your question because I don't know of any group that's supporting criminals among the illegals, at least not openly. I'm not doubting your word, I'm just saying I haven't heard of it which could be because I haven't kept up on this issue as much as other issues I feel are more pressing at this time. Obviously, if this IS true I can think of no justification for it.
I guess I don't think the immigration issue is as cut and dried, black and white as some seem to make it out to be. It's like it's all or nothing to people are both sides of the issue. The anti-immigrant crowd insists on using the word "amnesty" instead of "pathway to citizenship", which isn't the same thing. I see nothing wrong with allowing those who have been living decent lives, who have done nothing illegal since coming here to pay a fee and back taxes, pass a citizenship test and learn our language if they haven't already and then maybe eventually be able to become U.S. citizens. This should only be done for a limited time and in the meantime we must do more to secure our borders.

Why anyone would object to getting rid of illegal immigrant criminals is beyond me. I think it's a very good idea.

Because the "pro illegal immigration" groups don't think ANY of them should be kicked out for ANY reason. That is why. Stupid huh?
You would think they would want the criminal element within the group kicked out too because they make them look bad...but no..they defend them..even the violent ones. Which tells you right there ...they all need to go..Because they will "protect their own" no matter what horrible things they do.
