Whether you are reading books or magazines or newspaper do you have that thing when you read and not reading between the lines. And you just can't understand every word? Maybe you are tired of reading or sleepy. How do you motivate yourself to read. At times there are assignments and just have to study how do cope to this boredom when your brain just instinctively wont understand with what you're reading?

I don't think I need motivation to read, that is if I'm reading novels not school stuff. I always get interested in what I'm reading though it takes a while before I immerse myself in the book. But I know this that's why I keep on reading knowing that I will be liking the story soon. Anyhow, if it's school related, I just read bit by bit. It tends to get boring if you force yourself to read the whole thing fast. So I read piece by piece then take a break once in a while. And for those I can't understand, I just read it again and again until it makes sense.

Yes I've had that kind of experience several time especially when reading academic books. I love reading novels but just get bored with academic books. Sometimes the lines would look gibberish to me that I have to read it several times before comprehending (especially with theory books). At these times, all I have to do is look at the clock and remember the deadline. I'm not sure why but cramming at deadlines sparks my brain.

Dear friend, I used to motivat myself to read when I was in school and college espeically to study for exams. Now I do read if I feel interested in that or just to pass my time or to cope my boredom. But some of the interesting cache headlines, news and pictures do make me attracted in reading.

Your question reminds me my time at university studying for exams. I would say that most of the reading materials in school are dry, and does not leave enough for the imagination so as to remember the salient points or lessons. I had a unique way or trick to deal with this. I would watch TV while I am reading. Or at least I would leave the TV open. Usually, I would reference points or lessons on whatever is happening in the show I am watching.

According to our teaching in our Developmental Reading its the sense of purpose. Because one of my classmates raise that question, why we feel sleepy once we are reading school books. She told us that its our sense of purpose for us not to feel sleepy. Once we knew and have that sense of purpose why we are reading then we would not feel any sleepy. Because we knew our purpose of doing it,.

I try to picture the story in my mind as I go along. I understand books a lot better when they are read to me though because I get so lost in trying to just READ every single word right that I'm not focusing on what the sentence is saying in itself. I find it easy to get a book on CD as well with the real book and play it and follow along in the book. It REALLY helps when you have to read something boring for school and I found that I ended up reading the book a lot faster then I would have if I had sat down and read it in my head. But yeah that's my method on getting my brain motivated to read through a book.

I like to do my reading in the morning when the house is quiet and I do not have any distractions. I love to read, however, anything technical is a different story. I find then that I need to visualize what the words are saying. This is easier if there are pictures.

Don't need any motivation to keep reading. I already think books are wicked fun! Even when I'm studying I don't really need any motivation. I'm just so practiced at reading and absorbing what I read and reading everything I hate all the way to the finish that it's not a problem. Just read what you love in the beginning and remember to always finish a book. The rest will fall into place.

Well,I think the best way to have shower and a fresh coffee in front of me to keep me going then straight to reading again just unwind a little to wake up those lazy nerves.

As long as I am reading something that I enjoy I need absolutely no motivation because I love to read. However, if I am reading something that I do not understand or that is boring to me that is a different story. I either make myself read it then or take a little break and hopefully my brain will be ready to comprehend better when I come back to it.

I only read books, magazines or newspaper that I'm interested in. That' the only way to make me read through and through.

If you read for a long time eventually you will get tired and not even pay attention to what your reading.Get a snack to help you and continue to read. It helps me alot when i'm reading boring books or studying. I enjoy reading but only when it's interesting stuff. Also take breaks once in a while but make sure you don't take long breaks because then you'll put off your assisngment.
