Just a few hours ago, the Secretary of Health announced that we have reached more than 30,000 of confirmed Dengue cases since January 2010. In tropical countries, dengue fever is on the rise during the first two months of rain. In the Philippines however, the number continue to rise even during the dry season with increasing mortality. This is an alarming number for Dengue cases.. I am disappointed on how the Secretary addressed the problem by telling the public to start eradicating the mosquito nests in your backyard. No concrete government intervention was ever mentioned. Do you think that we are in an Epidemic state? Isn't there a cause of alarm? What can we do in the face of this scare?

Here in mindanao the case of dengue is high. It even increases as the day goes by. When my kids got sick I bring them right away to their pediatrician. The doctor always request for CBC right away because the threat is high. A lot of kids are confined in the hospital here because of dengue.

Funny (funny meaning strange, not humorous)you should mention this. I just saw a report in our news yesterday of 19 cases of it turning up in an area of the state of Florida. Now, 19 cases may not seem like a lot, especially compared to the 30,000 cases confirmed in your country, but it is startling considering it is almost unheard of here in the U.S. I wonder if it is turning up in other areas of the world it doesn't normally appear.
