You can try using deep freeze or windows steady state. They reset your system at every restart.

Seen too many viruses get past deep freeze, steady state, and cornerstone. No, those wont work. Really the only option is to not get them in the first place (aka: NO INTERNET FOR YOU)

vinaysudhir, Since you claim that you work Symantec, I am sure that your offices around the world are using the company's computer protection programs for the entire offices' networks and computers. I am sure that this has nothing to do with company culture or some mission statement. Lest you are not using the Windows operating system for your personal computer and/or would not mind going through the works of data recovery, reformatting your computer to reinstall your apps, utilities and programs after each wave of computer attacks from computer viruses, malwares, spywares and whatever, then I just do not think you have a choice or alternative. Computer protection today has taken on a totally new paradigm shift, as such end users like you and me will need to shift as well to avoid a major breakdown of our expensive investment and most of all invaluable data. There is also another important aspect which is security where prevalent breaches nowadays are actually happening real time and right under our noses with legitimate websites and emails. Anti virus programs and security suite applications may not give end users a 100% protection but an impressionable 70% is a considerable figure to consider. If that buffer can save you that world of trouble as compared to none, I think an investment on such programs is not only justifiable but well worth. Lastly, computer protection is not like medical medication where there's alternate medicine to help us cope and immune us from the harsh elements. Computer sciences is a totally different ball game. Lest you have a sound proven advocate which all of us would be glad to hear, I just cannot even think of any alternative than an all round computer protection program. Have a nice day.

Alternate solution, get a software called Returnil. You can set your PC to restore before viruses get into your system. It records the state of your PC and every restart, your PC will be like the state you set it to be. Be reminded, all your new works also be deleted after the restart.
