What do you meant by Firewall?

Every day in my system it is showing that my firewall is off or it will ask to switch on so every day i am getting the pop up message its very headache for me so please please kindly suggest me what to do in this matter?

Firewall prevents from hackers getting control over your computer. Switch it on and make sure it is up to date.

If it is upto date then is it possible for me to work on the internet without any interruption? I thought it will harm to my computer if i turned it on.

firewall is basically a set or related programs, with a set of rules, defined / installed mostly on lan networks to prohibit unwanted access by users of local or other networks. check out wiki, you will get in detail answer(s)
