America has got their Independence Day. France has their Bastille Day. In my country, the nation celebrates with a military parade and aerial display in the evening followed by fireworks. Often times, there are also free entries or Open Houses to the Presidential grounds and museums. Community parties are also organised in various parts of the country. How do you celebrate your nation's birthday? Do you participate in the celebrations?

My nation birth day is being celebrated through out the country. I do participate in the celebrations. We offer national songs and prayer for the well being of the nation and their citizens. Our main goal is to achieve gross national happiness, every body prays to provoke peace and prosperity.

I know Bhutan pursues Gross National Happiness as a major goal. Are you in that region?

Am I really supposed to answer this? Since we are in the same country I am always thrilled to see the flag flying by my eyes. I once saw that when I was at the beach, I rushed to take pictures but didn't really get a good shot. We used to be very excited about the parade but in recent years, it has become a day for me to have a gathering with friends since we have so little public holidays. Sometimes we will choose places to watch the fireworks which are always exciting.

Are you referring to the helicopter carrying the flag flying by .... Yup, I have been to quite a few rehearsals and there was an instance when the helicopter was just above me with the flag. I was in the flight path! As most of the time I am at the actual site, I can also hear the singing of the national anthem which do fill me with some amount of pride.
