3G in india

when will 3G services fully operational in india? what will it be like. do we have to buy special 3G phones to be compatible with it?

I think the 3 G rollout has already happened in India. The SPECTRUM allocations are completed and now it is with the vendors. Some of the vendors have already started working out schemes for the 3G. Cheers! Ram

Yes. Normal phones dont compatible for 3G services. Once you activated 3G services in your handset, it'll support video calls that can make to compatible device withour having webcam and no need to sit in front of computer too. 3G services launched in various metro cities and states include 13 major cities with Mumbai, Bengalaru and Delhi as metro cities. BSNL, MTNL already launched 3G. Whereas Airtel and other private service providers tested 3G and soon will launch it seems.

Yes your cell phone needs to be able to receive 3G signals. Older phones won't do. Good to hear that India is improving in the technology area. First the 1500 dollar car, then the 27 dollar tablet and now 3G... My compliments! ( No sarcasm intended)
