I love them. Besides, parsley is so good for your health and they are so easy to make. Do you make them as part of your usual diet? To you fry them, steam them or throw them to be cooked in a broth? I love them all ways. This next Spring I will have some parsley just for dumplings in my vegetable garden. But meanwhile, while it is Winter here, I put some seeds in a contained. They are beginning to come up, in spite of the cold. Do you have a love story with parsley? How do you use it most? Share!

I have never made them, seen them or eaten them and this is the first time I ever hear them mentioned. I searched for a recipe and found this: http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Parsley-Dumplings-235872 which uses Italian parsley and I am wondering if I know them with another name. They sound very similar to gnocchi but they are made with potatoes. They sound so easy to make and nutricious too that I will definately be trying them out Is that recipe like the one that you use?

Hi di, I don´t use milk for them. I beat an egg with a knife, add enough self rising flour to make a batter thicker than the one I make for pankakes, add a pinch of baking powder and parsley. If you want it with less egg, I suppose you can add milk and more flour, so as to make a thick batter like the one for scotch pankakes as different as the one for french crepes.

You are very welcome! I first tried them in a celery soup ages ago. Just boiled celery leaves (that I used to throw away), a broth that can also be a cube and the you just dump the batter teaspoon size. I used my finger and a teaspoon It can be fried to YUMMY!!! THAT is not what I would call diet though.

Hiya marguicha, I like parsley yes I use it mainly to make Albondigas and Hamburgers too. I said it in Spanish as in English it sounds well you know what I mean. (grin) ha ha. I used to have a lot of parsley sauce but no one here likes that so I don´t make it just for me. However in the Albondigas and Hamburgers it goes down a treat ask this lot in this House if they like them.

I will do an experiment with albónigas today. I bought sish at a great price so I bought too much. So I steamed the fish and will make fish albóndigas wih parsley, a little fried onion, egg and bread crums to hold together. I´ll save them in the freezer and will also save the fish broth. Letar on I will turn them into a nice soup. As for now, I am beginning to hate fish. I´ve eaten fried fish 2 days on a row. The first day it was heavenly. Today, at lunch, I craved for pork, legumes, you name it.

I mean the freezer part of the fridge. I don´t have a big freezer although I had one once, when the girls were with us. But for anly one person, a normal refrigerator is more than enough. I love fried fish but hate to clean up later. I love lentils too. I love lentils and garbanzos but I´m not too happy with dry beans or peas.

Hiya margi, Albondigas of Fish that sounds a very good idea. It´s great to have a Freezer mine is´nt working at the moment so I don´t have much freedom like that. But even so that is a very good idea. None of these are really Fishy eaters for which I am glad as I don´t like Fish much at all excepting Tuna Fish, Salmon, or Cods Roe and that´s it. Cods Roe is Huevas de Bacalao by the way the stuff they throw back into the Water believe it or not I love it. Best part of the fish too. I am doing Lentils tomorrow with canelones and salad. Although it´s very hot here I let the lentils cool right down then serve them. I prefer lentils over Fish any Day of the week.

I've never made parsley dumplings! Do they taste a lot different than regular boiled dumplings? And I have never attempted to grow parsley. Do you grow them indoors in the winter?

I live in Colorado, where it can get pretty cold in the winter, so I'd have to try to grow it indoors. Parsley dumplings sound good, now! I may make some tomorrow, thank you.:)

I have some in containers outside but with a roof on top. I don´t grow normal plants indoors because our winters are not that cold normally (although we have a polar wave now taht is driving me crazy). In what part of the US do you live, friend? Parsley dumplings are a lot better than regular dumplings because parsley has such a good taste!

Hello marg. I love home made dumplings but I have never head or thought about putting parsley in them. I bet they taste great. I will have to try them next time I make dumplings. I usually cook mine in a pot of broth with chicken in it. I have grown parsley. It also made a nice plant for the yard.

I love dumplings. My favourite way to have them is to throw rthem into a meat stew, sometime before serving. Last time I did dumplings they were for my elderly Dad...he loves them too. They are just perfect as a tasty winter warmer I find. I have not used parsley on it;s own but rather a variety of herbs.

Fresh parsley is a good addition to many foods (to my taste). Besides I have learned it has mild diuretic properties and my feet have a tendency to swell. So by using it I kill two birds with one stone.

My parsley seelings, fighting against cold. - These is the parsley I sowed in a contained, not imagining how cold it would get. Still, the seedlings came out.
I mean fresh parsley. I have fresh parley in a container at home, planted more seeds a month ago and will plant even more as I have found the parsley is a good natural diuretic amond other things.

Yes! I make an old-fashioned chicken and dumplings and the dumplings are always parsley dumplings. It was my sister's favorite meal and I used to make it about once a month while she was still alive. She loved them! Well, we all did, actually. I still make them, just not as often as I used to, now that my sister is not with us anymore. The way I make chicken and dumplings takes 5 hours from start to finish so it's something I only do if I have the energy. Funny, I've never thought of making dumplings any other way than with chicken. I should start making them with other things, too. Thanks so much for bringing up parsley dumplings!!! Great reminder for me that I should make them more often!
