Hi all, just wondering if one of you has ever been to Indonesia, the biggest country in south east Asia. If you have, which city or island you've been to? And what was your impression or comments after visits? Just gathering other people's thoughts from the country. Share all! Have a nice day!

Hi, Interesting topic...I definitely like this topic as it talks about my country. I am from Indonesia, exactly from North Sumatera(medan- is my hometown). Medan is the third largest city in Indonesia after Jakarta(the capital city) and Surabaya. Maybe I can share with you some info on my hometown(Medan). They are many good foods in Medan, especially those spicy food. If you are looking for delicious food,Medan is one of the best place to visit. As for tourist spot, there are few places to visit : Bukit Lawang,Crocodile farm(in Sunggal),Brastagi(about 1-2 hours drive from medan),Parapat(about 3-4 hours drive from medan),pulau samosir(take ferry from lake toba),Hillpark(about 1 hour drive from medan),etc. Those I mentioned are the most famous one. Normally when I go back to Medan, I will visit Brastagi and hillpark. There are more nearest from Medan and the air is so refreshing...it is on the middle of the mountain area. Since there is a budget airline Airasia flying to Medan everyday, everyone can simply book a ticket and have a holiday there.

Hi there! Thanks for the info!!! Definitely will visit your place one day!!! And another question (if you don't mind to answer it) how about the local people? All I heard that Indonesian people are very nice towards tourist. Is that true? And how about the trip cost itself? Any suggestion???

HI, I can't say much about the people in Indonesia, some are very nice and friendly, but of course,it is better becareful when you travel to Indonesia. Lot of pickpockets are happening there and it is better to keep your belonging in the safest place and also avoid bring those big bags out especially if were to travel their public bus or walk along the street. For me, I never walk along the street myself, very dangerous and I am lucky that my family has our own car.and wherever we go,I have a personal driver to drive me out. As for the trip cost, the food is not that expensive at my hometown, however it is depend on what standard of food you are looking at, If you were to eat at restaurant, then it will cost more. If you were to dropby coffeeshop, then the food will be slightly cheaper. If you plan to go Indonesia,it is best to travel in group, with few friends and you can rent a car(include driver) to bring you guys walk around or you can follow the local tour which is available in the local travel agent in Indonesia.

I've been only to Batam, Indonesia and we've visited the Batam Centre. It's such a short visit but still I've enjoyed my stay there. I like the food very much. I'm pretty much happy also with the Sarong that I bought, such a great deal. I wish I could have stayed longer and visited some other places. I like to take a vacation in Bali in the future.

Hi there, thanks for the comment! Again, seems like you had a nice trip, even if it was a short one. Yes, all I heard that Bali is Indonesia's best mark. Some people even know Bali rather than Indonesia. Perhaps for its international 'best travel site' reputation. What did you think about local people???

When I was 21 years old I was on my trip around the world. I caught a ferry from Singapore over to Indonesia. By sea and land I made my way over to Sumatra. I visited the beautiful city of Butittingi with its many steps. I stopped off at the Equator. Then I visited picturesque Lake Toba. I went to a village called Buckit Lalwang and took a trip from there to see the wild orangutans. I left Medan and got a ferry over to Malaysia. I liked that island of Indonesia. The people there have the Islamic faith. One day I would like to visit Java, Bali and Lombok.

Thanks for sharing such a nice experience! Java, Bali, and Lombok are also good, I heard. Want to grab a very nice trip like you did! What do you think about the country's economy? Did you think it was 'cheap' to spend some holiday over there???

I have heard about the Prambanan Temple in Indonesia .Reputated as the biggest and most beautiful Hindhus Temple in Indonesia, and locally known as Roro Jonggrang. Excursion to Prambanan temple complex-the most beautiful Hindu temple then proceed to Solo visit to the Mangkunegaran's Palace, Triwindhu flea-market. Continued drive on to Sukuh temple located on slope of Mount Lawu and surrounded by beautiful sceneries.

Hi, thank you for your comment. Really appreciate it. Seems like you had a nice trip in Indonesia. I recon it was part of Indonesia's East Java. Was that the only place that you visited? What did you think about the local people, especially in relation to foreigners?
