I used to be employed with Gloria Arroyo's Project NARS which assigns nurses to work in the rural setting. But after the 6 months contract here we are again a bunch of nurses unemployed. It is really disappointing since most of us can't hardly get a job in public hospitals because they need political recommendation to be employed and that's very unfair for us who have no known politicians who will help. This is how unfair Philippines is and I'm hoping that P-noy will give us job sooner. :(

hello.. I'd work for 1 year in a private hospital and stop due to personal reason. same as you now, I'm also unemployed for almost two years, can't get job in hospitals due to political recommendation system. well, we can't do nothing about that coz it's an instinct here in Philippines. All i can say is go abroad and don't be stagnant here in our country.

This is the sad reality in the Philippines. We are one of the top exporters of nurses worldwide yet there are not enough local jobs for nurses in their own country. I brought my daughter to a public hospital last night for an xray and as the doctor was looking at the xray and the findings, one of the nurse assisting patients near us suddenly collapse due to fatigue which goes to show that these nurses are rendering working hours more than what their bodies are capable of. But i guess, the nurse's dream to work and stay in the Philippines would be just a dream not unless we can get out of poverty because let's face it, as long as majority of the people avail the services of the public hospitals instead of going to private practitioners, our nurses would have a hard time getting employed locally. If they will, they would just use it as a stepping stone to gain enough experience in hopes of finding a better paying job abroad.
