How patient are you when it comes to life?

I met my high school friend yesterday after a long time. She told me about how depressed she is in life due to the problems at her job. The management is not doing fair to her and she is working there for 2 years without any salary hike. But, she is patient even though she is disappointed and thinking things will change soon. How patient are you when it comes to life If you are in a demotivating and disappointing work atmosphere and hoping things will change. If you are in a depressing relationship with your partner and hoping things will change. If you finding it difficult the your close friends behave and hoping things will change.

I suppose I'm very patient when it comes to the game of life now! I've had my bad days and I've also had my bouts of depression and well I guess life continues to move forward regardless. I've even taken up the act of meditation now on a daily basis and this helps me to remain calm and collected at all times. I try to focus daily on what I enjoy doing and this at least keeps me sane! I think that if you become bogged down in doom and gloom all the time there's the very real danger that depression will set in and who knows where you will end up at that point. I try to remain positive regardless of what is taking place in my life, this at least helps me to make it through the day in once piece without thinking too much about things. Andrew

That is nice to hear from you Adrew. I have gone through difficult sitautions when I thought I had to meet with a psychatrist and I couldn't move in life. But, it is a truth that everybody in this world has one or the other problems. We may feel better if we look at people with more problems than us. It is very important to keep hope in us and keep the hard work thinking that things will work out well in some time.

They say patience is a virtue. But for many of us, patience is not easy. Patience like many things in life is something that is developed through life's experiences. It is also dependent on control. We have to concentrate on those things that we have control over and wait patiently until we have control over those things we don't control like our friend's behavior. Mostly it is a control over our impulsiveness and aggressiveness that enhances our patience. We will be patient until we can no longer tolerate then move on.

You threw some light on my thoughts about patience. I agree with you when you said that we can wait for some time and then move on. What happens whne you don't have an option to move on? That is a very difficult situation and you have to wait till some miracle or magic happens and keep waiting in the present disappointing situation. Sometimes a helping hand comes out of some where we have never expected.

Well, if by patient you mean hanging on then I guess I'm pretty patient enough. I've had difficulties in life that would make a soft person break so I guess that justifies my claim. I guess, all of us have had chances where it would break a person's will to survive so I think that makes all of us patient people.

You got exactly what I was trying to say through the discussion. I am a soft person and sometimes it is not easy for me to take things if it goes out of my dreams. My life has learnt me and I have experienced that patience is very important. If you wait with patience and try hard, you will get that. But, when it comes to practical sitaution, I am getting nervous and it is hard for me to take when things won't work out as I wish.

I would have to say some days I have more patience then others. And with some things I am more patient and others not so much. In her situation 2 years is a long time to wait. I would be seeking out other employment. Especially if it is making her depressed also. Sometimes you can't sit around and wait for things to change you have to change them yourself.

For me it depends on the sitaution and not based on the days. I can take some things to an extent, but not all things. For exampe I can cope up with a depressing employer for some time, but not with an irritating or creepy friend. I hate creepy people. It is always good to be patient, keep doing the hard work, and wait for a good outcome.

I have learnt to be patient with things in my life. I don't always get what I want in life even though I have dreamt and planned of things. I think you just have to take life one day at a time, because you never know what may happen.

You have a good attitude towards life. It is always good if you are able to take life as it comes. You are right that things always won't work out in the way you want, but there is always a small line of hope and we as human beings hope things will work out like our dreams and we wait for that. This waiting needs a lot of patience and sometimes we really get stuck in life without knowing what to do.

I haven't been really impatient with my life. I mean I'm not eager or in a hurry to grow old. I haven't thought of ending my own life and leave my family and friends. Even if there are times that I really struggle, those times aren't enough reason for me to give up.:D I don't have a real job yet but I know I'll be patient. I'll start from the bottom and I'll rise to the top...:D

That is great to hear from you and people like you gives confience to others. I don't have a job right now and I am kind of tired of looking for jobs. Your response made a big flow of confidence to me and I realize that I should wait for the right time when god is ready to shower his mercy on me. I became pissed off and restless sometimes being stuck in life, but I am sure that this is temporary and things will change. Thank you dear.

There are certain some days when I am more patient than other days. I'm sure everyone has some of those days as well. For me, it all depends on the day, when it comes to patience and such.

Hi there daliaj! Now that I am in my early thirties, I can say that i have learned a lot from my previous years. I remember during my college days, I thought that getting a job would be easy once I finish my degree. But after graduating from university, there I came to realize that it is tough to get a good job. at first, I easily discouraged and became impatient that led me to becoming a complainer. Nevertheless, as days passed, I have learned how to be strong and depend on God for everything. He is my source of patience, strength, and courage to go on and enjoy life. Cheers!^^

Actually I do have patient for some limits only. I try to be patient when I feel depreesed or when problems occures. Life is all about challenging so we can be patient for some time but if same things happen regularly than we may not be able to manage.

When you "know" the atmosphere of your work place, then it's foolish to wish for a change..it's like your whole life..IF it's not going the right way..it's time to take a turn....so is your employment with an organization that has been treating you indifferently for 2 long years....I think it's the lack of confidence in the person to look for a better job that is to be blamed....that is the root cause... life becomes an "excuse" once you start your blame games...instead of seeking better opportunities....Harsh but true...

A person can only be so patient, otherwise they would be pushed to their breaking point. Patience is key through out life because you think more clearly and more efficiently. Just think about a sniper in the military, they stay in one spot for days waiting for the moment of a kill or Intel gathering. You also need love and many things that will calm you in life. Patience is what makes you, as in many other traits.
