Profit in blogging?

How much money can a person really make writing a blog for Blogger or WordPress? Does it take long to get your first payment? I am thinking about starting a blog but don't want to put too much into it if the return isn't worth the work.

It really all comes down to how much time and effort you put into it. If you work hard at making a unique blog or one with a unique niche, then you're going to have something good going. It would probably take 6-12 months before you start making decent money, maybe even longer, but eventually I think it will be worth the time you put into it. I am currently developing a couple of new blogs/site and I am very optimistic about their outcome.
