Hello Lotters, I cannot believe it! and i have no idea that some people out there really recognized the words that are invented by fellow filipinos, just to short cut from the original words, makes me wanna blame the text messaging in this one. I watch it first in the news, there was massive deliberation. words like unli, miskol, and others were mentioned. for the voting, it was "tarp0" (short for tarpaulin) was voted by the majority but the announcement by the jury i think it was JEJEMON No kidding people......i mean, seriously???????// Not a referral LINK http://www.gmanews.tv/story/192124/jejemon-chosen-as-finalist-for-word-of-the-year

Hello Mspitot, Unli could have been a better word since it's been around since the text and load mania for almost a decade. what's wrong with the judges.

I think it's because of the controversy about that jejemon.

I don't understand why they like to support stupid thing like jejemon. It is close to the word demon so I have not much interest in using it in my every day life. Sorry to those who are fond of jejemon but this is my personal opinion.

yeah, am sorry about them too. it's not just texting anymore but it's those who got involve in the text clans that has actually created this new word.

I don't get it why people would choose that horrible word. There are so many better words out there than jejemon but still they voted for that.

not bad... it's justifiable anyways that j3j3mon would be the word of the year. I believe it's bad for the Filipino language though...

Hello arah, not only bad but it might misinterpret as the right word to text or write by youngsters. what's going on with our country now a days.

oh my gosh letran really I read that and it says follower of Satan. wow. the word of the year? okay seriously. Well I guess thats very different no I cannot believe that either. I would have thought a word with more pleasant connotations would be the winner. Yeah why not blame the text messaging maybe they got it all wrong or misspelled or something.

Hello hatley, in the US there are english words are spoken or invented which you also aren't aware, but in our country, we speak words and re invent as amusing purposes or code messages for a group or a gang. but having it as the word of the year sucks.

Don't worry about it, knight. I, for one, do not speak nor write jejemon. So, it will not prosper. When I was teaching high school sophomores way back when, my students invented their own language jejemon-like so that others will not understand what they are talking about. I did not care to learn. It did not proper. Jejemon is just a momentary craze.

Hello Eileen, We won't and shouldn't honor this word. it's a disgrace to our founding language. i guess it's another coded message like the rest. even the gay languages were different but older than jejemon.

Hello Jaiho, i think it's sentence that letters are either back wards, sidewards or using numbers as letters to keep other people from understanding their language. it's their generation not ours, and it's their own consequences because they won't be able to use that in the corporate world.

i think that it should not won as the word of the year. because it does not give good things to us. they say that it is a kind of expressing emotion through text. besides it was only based on hehehe and monster.

Hello krisnel, that is very true, i don't even know why on earth there is a word of the year in our country where the choice of words are contradictory to our language.

I see that most of the words in the list of 'word of the year' are from texting or sms. Some of which are load and unli. I guess these words have really become part of our lives here as filipinos.

How can we blame text messaging for this one? It is just technology, We have nothing to blame but ourselves. We allowed this kind of phenomenon to happen to our society. But on the other hand, this is a proof that we continue to evolve. The mere fact that words we use evolved to fit a technology such as text messaging.

hello Diogzz, No, such us being misuse by the young generation and not even consider learning the language in it's right spelling. it would be fine it doesn't affect how we learn the language in the country, but it does. because of texting my nephew doesn't like wrting his complete name except his initials, now i wonder how many of those kids wanted only initials and not whole name to be written. this is devolution and not evolution, and these words are merely coded messages and not consider as a filipino word. for one, i won't.
