Teens and destructive Behavior

Listening to my grandfather talk, I came to realize that they did a lot of things for fun back then. Then I realized something else. Teens weren't as big on drugs then either, nor did they fight as much, or even drink as much. Could it be boredom that is leading teens to do this stuff? Back then a group of friends could hang out at the mall or go down to the local milk shake shop. Now if teens do that they are watched, suspected of doing something wrong, just because they wanted to get out of the house, away from video games, off the computer and be with real friends. It feels like there is no where to go and nothing to do. Everything that used to be done for fun is now either illegal or gets you into trouble anyways though nothing wrong was done. And what fun is that?
