I recently added a new Comment layout on my blog that allows users to log in for commenting with various social network accounts so that they can still comment even if they don't have a Blogger.com account but I'm not sure if it's to encourage participation the new layout has auto backlinking to your last blog post if you have blog linked to with the account you sign in with when decide to comment, there is a new smiley feature, spell check,a box for your direct website link, and a few other bells and whistles. This is all to increase user participation and usability I know my content is good cause I've received really good reviews from LR members(Link Remember)but they won't leave those comments on my blog...heck they won't even sign my guestbook! So all in all I wanna know what motivates you guys when you decide to leave a comment or sign a guestbook? *I can't post my blog link here but it's in my profile.

If you really want comments and interaction, ask questions or pose a situation or problem and ask your readers for their opinions. Give them something to respond to, in other words. I don't have a lot of traffic to my blog but I get quite a few comments on some posts - not all, though.

What definitely makes me leave a comment or sign a guestbook is the content of the website or blog. If the blog is talking about what I was looking for or if I share a different point of view than the one described in the blog, I will leave a comment. I have a few blogs, and the problem with the comment box is that many people leave spammy comments.
