I thought since I was on a kick w/ finding out about Duncan Hines.... why not look up one of the next most famous names in US kitchens... Betty Crocker. Well Betty was never really a person but a marketing concept as well as an acress hired to appear as "Betty Crocker" in ads. Though one of the developers of the concept did a radio cooking program in that lasted nearly 30 years! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betty_Crocker

I am reading this article now, it has a lot of interesting information on it. Keep going with your fun facts, it's inspired me to look at a whole page of nice fun facts. Betty Crocker is such a well known character, I know many people want to bake like "Betty Crocker" did, but now we know she didn't as she doesn't exist! wow!

Betty Crocker along with many tv Mom's of the 1950's were all perfect lil housewives. Made the best meals & kept their homes neat as a pins and as their reward they got to go to the beauty shop. Sadly there's nothing that doesn't offend someone some way some how. Though Aunt Jemima much like Betty Crocker was the brain child of a marketing department.

I'm sure Martha Stewart has a radio show out there w/ all the fancy subscription radio companies reinventing the same ideas thru the media of radio.
