As I understand,the concept of trinity is rooted in the basis of creation of the universe out of the conglomeration of the three basic ingredients-sattwa,raj and tama. Sattwa implies the pure essence of life- the Absolute truth of existence. Raj implies the life energy that leads to action,bringing the unmanifested Absolute Being to the sphere of experience through senses,body and mind. Raj implies the state of inactivity or dormancy in life form. Different life forms exist and behave differently and uniquely in accordance with the composite traits of these three basic ingredients of creation. It can also be conceived as unified existence of three Gods-Brahma,Vishnu and Maheswar,representing the three basic qualities of life.Thanks.
