Hi, I started with Odesk about a month ago and I now have 15 dollars. i was also like you when I started. No one wanted to accept me. But I found the secret is creating a good cover letter. Actually I think the only reason why I got my first job was because of the nice cover letter I sent as I applied. I wished the employer well and was really nice to him. When the buyer shows his website, I go there and try to find good things about the products he is marketing. There are several people out there better than I am but I become creative with the letters I send out. I make it short but eye- catching. The buyers don't want to read a novel especially if they have to go through 20 or 30 applicants. Be straight and direct to the point.

some of them don't reply that soon..you'll have to wait more longer..cause if you haven't received any letter from them stating that your application was declined..then they might be still reviewing your application..i'm also in with oDesk and fortunately i have 2 active interviews right now..but as i've said i've waited long before i got them..so all i can say is you have to be patient..goodluck anyways...and one more thing you might wanna apply for costumer service cause they got lots of jobs there..

Yes me too joined this site along with triond to make some money, but failed in both in triond my articles are not accepted and here just applying but not getting works, but people say if you give the odesk readiness test and get good scores than you get works easily and I am not getting time to do it.Besides freelancing sites also not working and micro workers which previously giving some good jobs now not having more jobs which I can do most of the jobs are for high page rank holding blog owners so not making ample money from micro too...good luck

Getting a job at Odesk is not easy. You need to be a professional. Odesk provides many free exams to show your knowledge. Write exams and try to score high marks. Make your Odesk profile attractive. You can add your experiences, certificates etc. Still to get a job, you have to compete with many professionals.
