Im starting a bookclb and I think it's going to be fun overall but Im super nervous. Partly because it's all on me right now if this turns out okay or not but I think it also has to do with the fact that ... I dont kno, really. Im just plain nervous with the whole situation. However Im still a little excited for it. Have you ever been art of a bookclub or tarted your own? How'd it turn out? Any suggestions?

I have never started a book club, nor have I personally been part of one. I am sure that everything will turn out well, and good luck to you. Do lots of research as that may help to relieve your nerves, knowledge about what to expect and laws if there are any. I suppose you mean a bookclub where you sell books or do you mean one where you read a book and then gather around and talk about it with others who've read the book as well.

hello artsyfartsygypsy, A co-worker of mine belongs to a book club and loves it. There are like 5 to 8 people in the club usuasally about 5 people show up. Sometimes they share books they are reading and they bring snacks so it not left up to the same person all the time. Sometimes the read current books on the newspaper list or Opra or they pick there own from group of books they read on side of the book club. They discuss the book like so many chapters at a tim etc... it not like the have to fisnih the whole book 1 month. There meetings are like once a month. They recommoned places on where to get the book to read etc... too. I hope this helps and Good Luck let know how it goes. Sincerley Unique16

I was part of a bookclub at the last community college I worked at. It was a lot of fun, I read some things I wouldn't have and it was fun to discuss the books with others. If you pick interesting books or have interesting people attending then you should be fine and have fun.

Good for you! I don't belong to a book club but I have been considering starting one too. I've found lots of useful information on this site: www.thereadingclub.co.uk/ Good luck.

Well done, it's brave of you to take on all that organisation yourself. Once it's started it shouldn't be so much work as other members will want to get inolved too.Book clubs are fun, hope you have lots of heated discussions about your favourite writers!

I have not had an opportunity to join a book club and have not started one. However I would be thrilled to be a part of a book club. I love to read books, but I don't know how much fun it would be to sit around and talk about a book I just finished reading. I do enjoy hanging out with a group of my friends though, so I think if there is a good mix with talking about the book and also other conversations, your book club would be a success.
