Are you thinking of Going Back?

Philippines
August 1, 2010 7:22pm CST
Just this morning, I had a little tour at the past... NO Computer, NO Cellphones, NO Chat but reading mailed letters from the post... I just feel great. I just don't know. It's that life is simple yet worth living before... I am not into the past though, but I just consider the complexity of life today. Yet I have to live now, not before. I have to embrace what life offers now, or I would left behind. And this thought is just about everything, we could not just choose to be alone if we know that everyone is going at the other direction, you have to pace there too... or else, you would get lost. Good morning mylotters. 8:19AM Tesc, Philippines Prime

Oh don't worry, you can always remember the past and enjoy the happiness or the pain it brings. It is part of being human. And do not stress yourself with the present. Just enjoy it as well. And the again, enjoy thinking whatever future may bring. That way, you can have a smile on your face each day. Bwa ha ha ha!

But of course dear. That's just what is great in life. Things could either be positive or negative. If you don't have one, it will not work.

Nice for you angel... Now I am happy that I can put 'cow' before your name... At least when you would visit my tree, then I can wave a beautiful nest for you, then I may not worry of the materials I would make, because I know you would like it... and I would let you live a life in the past, what do you think now?

I wonder how you managed a day of LOW tech. Hehehe, anyways I always do this if I have the chance. It's always good to walk away from fast phase life to a simplier one.

Yes, but we could not just walk away. I could not say that we can't survive, because I know that many of my fellows are still living in the absence of those, but for us who are working, we necessarily embrace the change that technologies offer us. Sometimes, in a vacation, we can choose to have a simpler one, to appreciate it back again. I am not sure, but somehow people in the city, just do not know how to live a life in the absence of this technologies. And... one more thing, I know for sure that if we wanted to have a mind set to think of the genuine beauties, those in natures, and be grateful in it, try to escape from the world of tech... hehehehe. Thank you!

Once, I watched a TV program where a family was chosen and given a chance to live in a make over house which had all the facility of year 1800ish. They had to wear the trend-in clothes of the time and did everything just as the 1800ish people did back then, for a whole month. I hoped to be able to participate in the program, cause I really wanted to experience how people live and survive in the old days. Alas, I live in a different country than where the TV program is made. I know we have to keep up with the day to day progress in our life now, but it would not hurt to be able to experience the old days. We will appreciate more what we achieved if we understand how was it before.

I hope that you can join that kind of program before friend..I use to read old books, and I just love those illustrations showing what kind of lifestyles had before... in the absence of technology, we knew that work is not easier like now, yet there is something that the old days in terms of work a lot of sense... God bless.

if most people before had lived their lives without technology, then why can't we? besides most of the technology today are not really required for you to live... I grew in a simple farm life and would love to live forever like that. like climbing trees, playing at the irrigation, playing guitar under the shade of the trees... very peaceful! plus, you don't waste electricity for that matter! Simple life is the best!

Yes, you are right friend, those evening bodies are just so totally different here from the city. And you know, when I already have my own child too, I would let them the see that natural beauty of the earth... I do not want them to ask how is it like climbing a tree, or running along the hills.... it's a different feelings, I just miss one hill in our province, it is full with bushes, and I can see many mountains over there---green, dark green, and blue..... amazing!

Wow, brilliant! Like you, I also think of living back in my province... I just love there. I just love to be near to those bountiful natures. I love the fresh air, I love the fresh vegetables. And one more nice thing, in our province, we do not have to pay much bills like what we always have here in the city. You know, I want to have my family soon in there, just want to raise and nurture my children at the peaceful land. God bless.

I usually tour my son there, we go there every 2 months whenever my dad come home from abroad. as a child he Totally love it there, I think just as I experience before, as a child you see it as an adventure, like climbing trees, playing with the animals.. etc. Fresh air and the sound of the birds every morning is thing I adore and miss when I'm not there and did you notice how bright the stars are during the night? and how mysteriously beautiful the moon is when its full? ^.^

Actually I sort-of have gone back. I used to go online to chat all the time, but I never really did anything productive online. I wasted a lot of time hanging out in chat rooms...time I could have been using for other more productive things in life. However, I don't really do this anymore. I only come online now to do things like mylot, or to research other things I am interested in. I do have a cell phone, but I really only keep it because I no longer have a land line in my house, and because I can call my family in another state for free thanks to the benefits of my cell plan. I don't really use email that much either. Most of my communication is done by phone calls, although I do use Facebook to communicate with friends back home occasionally. If I didn't live so far away from my family, I would prefer to not even have a phone. I would have no problem communicating by hand-written letters when I needed to do so. I think it would actually be cool to be alone on an island for a few month, as long as I didn't have to worry about things like food, water, and a place to sleep. I am sure I would miss my family, friends, and my dogs, but I think it would give me a while to think about things, and maybe give me some new perspectives on life. I grew up in the 1980's, so I remember the days when we didn't have things like cell phones and computers, and I think that life was a lot easier back then somehow...

Life is a lot simpler, easier and happier back before friend, I also grew up in the mid of 80's so I agree with you. I just love the way we live before with my siblings and with our loving parents. I just love the place where I grew up. And I just love and miss those people around me. The place was peaceful, and everything show generosity! One day, I know I would be back there, perhaps with my wife and children... I want there.... I miss those mountains where I used to run, and play those naughty stuffs, hehehe.

hi I had life without my computer and monitor for almost 11 months and no it was not fun it was boring, televsion all day til I was sick of looking at it, I did not ever have a cellphone nor do I w ant one,but my computer and monitor are now part of me, and mylot is part of me, we must not go back I am 84 and I saw out houses and taking a bath in a tub and a chest for keeping blocks of ice. no fridges yet no electricity but oil lamps now that was not peaceful, that was not fun, electric lights and running water and real bathtubs that was fun, learn to appreciate the time you are in now. people worked hard to bring us these wonderful electronic things. why not use them? We have the power to uncomplex our lives if we will just do it, take time to write letters and mail them, talk to real people but s till have time to my lot.he he he.

Hi hatley, for some wonderful points you have mentioned in your response, I must agree with you. Many people in the past, our hardworking and invented fellows just spent most of their lifetime to brought this things too us, so why reject it... you know friend, even I do appreciate what past life and lifestyle is, but I am very grateful to these technologies... it just made our life easier... though there are also advantages that they gave us, but look, just too many people like you enjoy these... and honestly I could not deny, I am dependent to these improvement today! As what I have said, if majority are swimming in that direction, then you have to join the flocked or you would get lost. God bless friend and happy mylotting! Mylot is a part of me too!

I love to learn about the past. I think that while technology is a good thing, it's also something we maybe use too much of sometimes, and so should take some time out of our lives to just be, and not worry about the television, or internet, not even radio.

You are right, and you know, you can ask those people older than you about a lot of nice things in the past. I used to ask my intelligent neighbor before, he was the grandfather of my friend, I was so glad at him because he had shared me a lot of important information about the past, specially in my homeland... unfortunately, he rested in peace now, oh I may not say unfortunately, at least he have already seen the Father... God bless.

Thinking of going back could be a stupid act when we know that what has been done will remain a history. But appreciating how the way we live in the past and basically put them into actions is marvelously a beautiful thing to do. Out of our daily business that we don't have time for ourselves, we can choose to be away from what the present has to offer. It is stress relieving. I just realized though since I lost my cellphone last May. I am more at ease and got more time to rest. I decided not to buy a cp for myself to avoid one-text gig invitations and the like. Or when I decided to have one, I will surely give my number to those who respect my time for rest. Good morning!

That is true uniqueorn, sometimes this technologies give us headache, so somehow we choose to live far from it. When I visited a place few months ago, I just appreciated the peace it gave me. I emptied my mind of the world I live in, and I gave myself the chance to enjoy the untouched beauty of the earth. And it gave me a great feeling, a feeling I never had here in the City. Thanks friend. God bless.

New technology available to our generation supposedly should make our lives easier. But come to think of it, does it really make your life more comfortable? I still remember the time when I was still a college student. There were no cell phones, computers or cable TVs. In fact, I even grew in a household with no landline phone. But we had ways to communicate with each other. We had ways to make ourselves busy. We had ways to make our lives pleasurable. We are more stress free unlike now. Please don't get me wrong. I am not against technology. I am not against developments. It did change our lives for the better.... for most of us.

I would not not get you wrong my friend, because I agree with you. You had pointed an important point of what was life before... and I just had it like what you share here. Even inn the absence of many things before, yet we did have a pleasurable life. We had a peaceful life, and we had a less complicated life... but I like you, I am not against to technology, of course, it does something better to all who embrace it, yet, it juts make life so complex somehow. Good day!

Erm... ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I would kill myself from bordem. Think of all the games, songs, movies, gadgets etc. that we love to use everyday. I understand what you mean by having a simpler life but seriously then you'd be moaning for something to do lol... And good morning to you too, but it's 00:35am in England right now :D

You know, I am not kidding, I am really that serious writing that post that time, hmmmm, it seemed that I was day dreaming, I tried to pace backward... but I already wake, and I am already here in the world of reality! I love the past, but I could not bring it back! Yet, even today, I can live a simple life if I wanted it... it's our own choice though. Good day!

I will be alone that I don't have problem to any one .When any one have be alone to manage that we will be free of tension and worries of others and we will be having a wonderful life as there will be systematic and orderly management.I consider to be alone because I am not in any one controls and it is really hard to be in .we don't have free and open mind and we will be not planning by our self as we have to follow to depended person. It is risky to our self to lead proper life.

I am so happy to know that friend, people are distinct from each other... and we have our different ways of having a life that is happy. So it's up to us somehow, maybe there are people who are dependent to everything, yet as long as he/she feels good in it then there is no problem at all... But if you want to live a life of your own, to live a simple life, then it is your own choice, if I want to live a life like this, then it would be my decision in the end... talking about this technologies, so far I do have to get with it as I just need it to get my work done!

I like you, I am also into this technologies nowadays, so it would freaking hell when something would just go wrong with it... that is the complex side of the change... but if we will see its benefits, then we would never think of going back... I am doing my excel, and I just think would hassle it is when I have to write everything using my hands, and compute those numbers manually. Thanks.

Last night I was reading a letter from 1923, how is that for a blast to the past. I dont' think I would go back to paper letters, I like my e-mail and chat and so on. But I do wonder what my children will have to go back and look at. Actually, I am thinking about printing off my family blog and putting it into a book for them.
