I think if you use your yahoo ID to sign up FOR a Windows Live account, it may be possible to do so. Like if you use your yahoo email address as your WLM username. . .if that makes sense at all. Using an example for two other messengers I use, I have a gmail address. When I sign up for an AIM account, I use xxxx@gmail.com as my screenname, instead of some other name.

It is not possible because each ID is unique to the site it is connected with.
At the same time there is OpenID. If you have an OpenID, and the site accepts it, then you can use the same OpenID. I am not sure how popular OpenID is, but I have seen sites offering this option, thus saving the trouble of having to sign up.
I do not know whether WLM accepts OpenID because I have never used it. As for YM the last time I used it was more than 6 months ago. Please check it out yourself.

I do not believe so, I believe you can be invited by a messenger to your yahoo id or vice verse you can invite a yahoo to your messenger. But signing into to a messenger well you have to have a messenger log in and id.
Hope this helps, if you find out otherwise please let me know as I too have a messenger and not sure I can sign in with other messenger providers.
