Just got my new cookbooks!

I joined a cook book club and got a good deal on my first order. I got four books at a dollar each. Then I got to order another book at half and it was counted as one of the two I have to purchase in the next year! I got my daughter the south beach diet cookbook. Then we have Jillian's book and I also got a slow cooker cook book for us to share. then for me I got the Mediterranean Diet cookbook and a book on how to grow all kinds of herbs in all kinds of containers! I'm having loads of fun looking through these books! do you have a few favorite cookbooks? Or maybe some new ones?

Hi macdingolinger Do I have Cookbooks??? Is the Pope Catholic?? Being a die hard "foodie" and recent grad of culinary school,I have more cookbooks than I have room for. I have been collecting them for years, buying old vintage ones at garage sales and thrift shops as well as finding some interesting ones on EBay. I just love them all and have spend hours upon hours reading them over the years. The best one, of course, will be mine, if and when it ever gets published!!! I have been working on it for years, its a lot harder than I ever thought it would be. Then when I entered the Art Institute for 2 years to become a chef, ,my book pretty much took a back seat. I landed a job on a yacht here in Ft Lauderdale as a personal chef and work when the owner takes the boat out on trips, We travel around, mostly to the Bahamas and I do all the cooking, 3 meals a day plus cocktail hour snacks. Now that it is summer, he has gone up North to the boat he has docked in Maine, so I have lots of time now and work on the book whenever I can. If it ever publishes, will you buy a copy? lol

I most certainly will purchase your book when it publishes!! I do know of a place that publishes pretty cheap too...and they won't turn you down, although a cook book might be a little different. But let me know when it comes out!

Thanks Mac, I'll remember that about the publisher. The title of the book is still up in the air but I've got it boiled down to two from my beginning list of 34. I don't think I will ever be able to write another recipe and I definately don't think there will be a second edition. Without help, its a long process. I do have a fantastic artist however so I shouldn't say without help, but you know what I mean. The "fat" of the book comes from me and me alone.

I joined a cookbook club once too. Sadly I did not enjoy the cookbooks I bought from it. Some recipes are just too "exquisite" for our tastes, or require too many ingredients.. that and my hubby is so picky there's not a lot I can make that he'll eat.
One thing I do notice is a lot of recipes are repeated over and over with just slight changes to them. One cookbook I bought had like 10 meatloaf recipes.. all with just slightly different flavors, like bbq sauce instead of tomato. I mean geez, I could have figured that out on my own!

Are you serious? That really bites!
So far I am pretty happy with mine. They are all really different first of all. But I have been able to go through the recipes and like you said some are way out there. But there are many I think I can use so I'm pretty okay with 'em right now!
