Inhumane death of dogs

I just heard this from Ramon Bautista on their radio show. It happens in North Cotabato, when the dog pound is full they dispose some of the dogs. They do it by putting the about ten dogs at a time in cage about 1 meter in length and then intoxicating them with toxic gas fumes from a vehicle's exhaust connected to the cage. I just found the actual footage just now on YouTube it is titled "Tambucho Killing.mp4" it was horrible and disturbing though I think they could have just fed them to the crocs or call PAWS for assistance or something else that would be more inhumane or cost effective. Please don't be emotional in your comments I don't want to know about you. What do you think should the people do when there is too much dogs that roam the streets and the dog pound is full?
In the streets they can either die of hunger, die of heat, lack of shelter, ran-over by vehicles, or other things but they are free. In the pound they are fed but caged.

Well, I think the best thing for them is to just put them to sleep. Also get eaten by crocodiles? I think that would be really painful, more painful than dieing from the gas. Besides, seeing dogs getting eaten by crocodiles wont be the funnest thing to watch. :)

You guys still responded emotionally. Anyway, I said that for its convenient unwanted dogs can be turned into meat for carnivorous animals pets as alternative to chicken. So do you mean chickens are much fun to watch getting eaten by crocs?

Well, they don't really feed crocs alive chicken because they can run pretty fast. The crocs are fed with dressed chicken.

Everybody know that chicken are common foods for human, while dogs are pet,like cats...So it's very unusual to eat pet, the same as unusual for us to watch people eats cinderblocks, for example...(although I did know a kid who eats cinderblocks everyday!)
Killing them is sad, but acceptable, but not in a painful way. And gas is preferable...they just became unconscious and die. Then, afterward, they can do whatever they want with the body, including give it to the croc....but not when the dogs are still alive..!!

I haven't heard about this cruel act until I read your post. Talk about holocaust. =[
I know of a decree that was issued against eating dogs for humane reasons, so why is this happening now? This should reach the rightful authorities and they should act on it the soonest.
To top this discussion, I would suggest that we don't leave our dogs roaming around to help the situation. First, so we can avoid unwanted multiplication and second and foremost, so we have less unwanted dogs around.

Actually they fall asleep with the with the carbon monoxide so it is just as good as getting them injected.

I wish i could but I already have three dogs in my house. I just wish that there are more people who would appreciate them. Also, like I said, in order to stop the multiplication or propagation, responsible dog owners should keep them inside their house. I think, too, that there is a more humane way of disposing them, like putting them to sleep with just a shot. Suffocating is just too inhumane for me. I'm sorry.

I cover my ears and my eyes because I don't want to see and hear the news about this thing earlier in a local tv network! I feel so sad that they can actually do this things to those poor dogs. I have a dog and I love my dog very much and I can't imagine him being killed like that! I hate those people who do not have mercy on animals! If only I can adopt those poor dogs I will just to put them away from danger! I'm so emotional when it comes to animal killings!

I think that would "put them to sleep" rather pleasantly and painlessly. I think a crocodile would have caused more pain to them; that's just me though :D.

But feeding them to crocs is much better for the economy since chicken is expensive maybe unwanted dogs would be cheaper.

Couldn't they still do that after they fumigate them? Could do that, or people could get over the fact that dogs are just animals, and that we could also used them for their meat.

Many Filipinos eat them. Why don't they just sell it alive for meat? That doesn't sound right. Anyway, you get my point.

I think it is impossible for them to live in the wild because they will just follow the scent of human food and eventually return to the streets where garbage cans with food in them is readily available and is much more convenient compared to hunting.

that is so cruel of them. actually i saw it on the news few days ago. they were so bad, cruel and inhumane. i cant even look at it. poor dogs. only if i can adopt them but too bad i have asthma.

I did not know that they still did things like that to dogs. That is horrible! If they have too many dogs they should send them to a no-kill shelter instead of giving them the gas chamber. That is more or less what that method of killing them is. Dogs feel pain too just like humans and so if they must be euthanized there are a lot more humane ways to do it than what was done to these poor dogs.

What I think people should do is start being responsible pet owners. Get them neutered/spayed to stop them from breeding. If only some Vets would give back to the community. Maybe it wouldn't hurt if they do it once a year for free. But of course only to those who can't afford it.
