How many of you are doing/did internships in college?

I am looking into all these different internships because I'm being told that's how you get a good job when you graduate college. Do any of you have experience with this? I will be apply for next summer and I have budgeted a move and having to pay for a place to live without getting paid at a job.

You are absolutely right, that this is what you need to do to get a job. You need to do something to differentiate yourself from the thousands of people you will be competing with. A college degree on its own does not guarantee employment. An employer want to know what you can do for them, not what the employer can do for you. Make sure you keep a good account of your tasks. Always volunteer for more. Many jobs are offered based on your performance as an interm. Apply early, the best internship are sought after.

Thanks, yeah I will be applying as early as possible. I hope I get a good one. I am a very hard worker so I don't think it should be too big of a problem. Did you do an internship? I hope to get a job from the company I intern at.

I am guessing that I am quite a bit older than you, but yes, I had several internships, all who offered me a full time position. I have also hired people who interned for me. I made sure that they learned alot, and that it was meaninful for them. Many people offer internships that are not really internships, they look for people to do their dirty work for free. So make sure that they work you do while on an internship is going to be of value. Good luck to you!
