we are the ones who make it enjoyable or not.... we are responsible While I was replying to a post, I was thinking, what makes Mylot fun to be at? I realized that we are the ones making it to be so. We can contribute touching stories, share something humourous about incidents in our lives or simply give silly (definition: funny and harmless) comments and have a good time. Do you find yourself enjoying your time here? Do you contribute to the positiveness and enjoyment?

I do normally enjoy my time on here. In fact, most days I look forward to coming on here and interacting with my friends and hopefully making some new friends. I normally get up early to do this, so that I don't take time away from my other responsibilities to be on here, and I like being able to have fun or discuss serious issues or whatever I am in the mood for at the time. Lately, I have been noticing a lot more negativity on here than normal, although there might not be any more now than any other time. Maybe it is just my mood when I am on here that is causing me to notice it or perhaps I am just seeing different discussions than I normally see. In either case, I try to answer serious discussions with serious answers and fun discussions with humorous answers. There are times, though, when I will answer a serious discussion with a silly answer. I usually only do this when it is one of my friend's discussions, and I know that I won't offend him or her, but there have been a couple of times when I could not resist the urge and did it on a discussion posted by someone that I did not know. Fortunately, they have taken it in the spirit intended and had fun, too.

Bluemoon - Yes, there are definitely more positive people on here than negative ones ... or at least I seem to gravitate towards the more positive people. Everyone can have a bad day, and we are all entitled to be negative at times, but overall I prefer to be around people with positive attitudes and have fun. Also, I definitely would not intend for my silly or joking remarks to be taken seriously and offend someone. I make them to have some fun and maybe take the conversation in a different direction than other response boxes, so that hopefully it will make it more interesting. Rich - I think that purple and blue make a beautiful combination, too! LOL @ "if they get frustrated here they can just wander away and nobody can stare at them". I sometimes think that if we were not online, so people on here would do that to me as well.

Hi purple, What an effort you put in, specially waking up early to log in here, I can't imagine myself doing that, my bed is too enticing To tell the truth, I also have noticed a lot of complaints and negativity here but as there are still a lot of positive people around, we can still have a balance. I don't mind any kind of comments on my post, be they funny, serious or silly, as long as it is that person's sincere thoughts and meant to add in to the discussion and not abuse it.

blue and purple makes a rich colour I always welcome your yaking, haven't seen you doing that for a while, hehe. It's true what you said about people being nasty here and can just walk away, these are the people that didn't give much here and didn't take away much from here. So there are b*tchies and whinnies here, who cares about those? I'm here to have fun and I have it, WITH or WITHOUT them.

It is in my opinion a GOOD thing "MyLot" staff "DOES" monitor responses and topics. As I understand it there are people from all over the world and of all ages and colors. As I understand it this network is a social one with no personal attacks, or name calling etc. Is that not correct?

Correct me if I am wrong but as I understand it from some of the topics I looked at there are young people (teens and younger) at this site. Is this correct? If it is that is another the site needs to be monitored. Would you want your child to be exposed to foul language, deeds or behavior? I commend "MyLot" for their sense of right and wrong.

Yes, mylot is addictive and I also find it difficult to hold myself back to comment It has brightened up my life a lot. As for admin deleting posts and comments, it's one of their fundamental rules. I don't mind it as I can always start new and better ones.

hi bluemoonpavilion love that user name it evokes such beautiful images in my min. yes I try to not be too serious all the time and write about something that is amusing to me and hope it will be to others. Like my discussion about the cotton picking cotton picker and if people had heard that expression before? it was not meant to be anything deep or serious but one newer user must have disliked it so much for her response was "Oh God" mylot admins deleted that saying the response did not add anything to the discussion.,I was a tad miffed but also amused as it was not supposed to be a serious make you think kind of discussion. I just wanted to have a little fun. I really do enjoy my time mylotting as it gives my retirement days some substance. lol.

Thanks Hatley for your compliments. I remember your cotton picker discussion and I like such discussions because I learnt a new phrase and also the context it is being used in. Well, I didn't know that responses like "Oh God" could be deleted, again, it is something new to me... Thanks for bringing so much enjoyment to this lot here. lol

I have noticed that some respondents do tend to take a very dim and negative view of some subjects. Especially when it comes to "politics". I was always taught that in a social network like this one is, politics is a "no,no". That along with "religion" can cause bad feelings etc. What do you think?

I do not take part in the political discussions here so I do not really know about this. I guess politics and religion are still pretty much the sensitive areas. Whatever it is, whether the topics are sensitive or not, I think in international forums like this, we must always observe discretion and not make hurtful remarks.

Sawadee Krap (hello) from Thailand, I couldn't agree with you more. I am somewhat the new kid on the block and one of the things that made me sign up for MyLot" was when I previewed the site and read some of the responses and I was quite impressed with some of them at how positive they were for living in the world we are all currently living. Another thing that struck me was the humor, especially some of the banter between members. For me the experience has been informative, positive and very funny at times. All are ingriedients for fun for me at "MyLot so far. PLUS I even get paid for it. Granted, not at much at first but with conviction and a little effort I could supplement my fixed income very nicely. Where else can you have fun and meet people from all over the world, it be this easy, and earn money too? Now, I ask you, WHERE?

This site is good because of it being an international site. Previously I have never known anything about some countries, now I even know some people from the other side of the globe, it is really an interesting experience.

Sawadee kar (not sure whether this is the correct spelling for a female's intonation of a greeting), There is a really large population here, sooner or later you can identify the regulars who are very active here. It's amazing there are so many people who are positive here and it gives me hope that there are still a lot of goodness in this world when we have been in touch with so much negativity in the world like all those bad news we read from the media. Of course, there's also the earnings part which is really exciting to see it grow from day to day, depending on your own activities here.

Herro bluemoonpavilion I think our enjoyment at mylot is partly attitude. If we come with a positive attitude and look for enjoyment, then I believe that is what we will get. I learn something new everyday. I look for discussions that I can contribute to. I look for things I can do to help people. I do my best remain positive, even when negative events occur. Prosperous mylotting

TexLady - I tend to be the same way not only on-line but also off-line. When one of my friends is really down I not only try to listen and support him or her but also try to help him or her find the positive aspects of the situation. Sometimes there really isn't much we can say that is positive, but many times if we try there are many positive things that we can focus on instead of the negative. When we do this, then often even the negatives do not seem as bad. Bluemoon - I agree that sometimes it is difficult to remain positive when we see negative comments. Most times I try to focus on the issue rather than the negative comments, and that works well. There are other times, however, when the negative comments become a bit too personal or hit on an issue that is very sensitive to me, and then it is much more difficult not let it affect me.

Purple, in forums like this I find it easier to remain calm and distanced myself because after all we have time to think and analyze the situation before giving our answers. When I'm dealing face to face with people, I find it more difficult to fend off the personal attacks.

Hi bluemoonpavilion, Yes, I am enjoying my participation here on Mylot. I have met people from all walks of life and from different places in the world. Some of our ideas about life's circumstance are the same, and of course we sometime disagree, which is natural. I do think that we are all responsible to do our best to make each other feel as comfortable as possible. I have read some really interesting discussions. So, make me laugh, get mad,and want to cry. When I respond to a discussion, I try to be as honest as possible without being rude or condescending. Most time, what you put out is what comes back.

When I first learned about "MyLot" from a friend I checked it out by reading some of the topics and their responses and found most of them very well thought out and interesting. I also found most of the responses were positive and informative so i registered and now here I am. As for the site being a positive force in the net I find most of the responses are positive. I really like the humor that is shown by many of the members and I find myself laughung out loud at some of the responses and that is a good thing. Do I enjoy being here? I should say so! I certainly do enjoy myself a lot, even though I don't post as much as I did. I am always drawn back to mylot, and that is because it is a good community to be a part of. I do contribute as well, as that is what it is all about. I feel, why come in here at all, if I am not going to contribute? If we all work together, we can make mylot a place where everyone is going to want to be. I can serious, but I can also be funny at times. It just really all depends on the discussion and the content that I am posting to. Some are serious, but some a re funny as well. I think that is what makes mylot unique, as it has a little of everything, and I don't want to ever miss out on it if I don't have to. Good luck to you and happy mylotting.

*If we all work together, we can make mylot a place where everyone is going to want to be* That is my sentiments exactly and what my post here is all about. We are all pieces of the jigsaw puzzle here, how the overall picture looks like depend on each individual piece. The best part is we can choose how we want to look like. For one to be funny or serious very much depend on the contents of the post and these are all good inputs to the discussions here. Thanks for your thoughts and a good day to you

All of us together make mylot what it is. We only get out of this site what we are willing to put into it. If we don't expect much, we don't give much either. If we expect a lot, we are more willing to give of ourselves here. Time at mylot should be one of enjoyment and not a task to perform.

hi there bluemoon, I've been away for so long that I missed lots of interesting discussions. I would have missed this one too if it didn't come up as similar discussion in another one that I respond to. (As you might have guessed, I don't look at myLot discussion notifications in my email). Anyway, you've made a good point there. It is true that myLot is what we make it to be. If we put lots of interesting and fun topics, then it is fun. There is no one here but we, the members ourselves, that makes myLot interesting. The admins are just trying to referee and well, make sure that we don't cross the line and such.... It is indeed what we make it to be.

Hi zralte, Yupz, I noticed you have been missing in action for a while welcome back.... I do not read the notifications either but I will always scroll through the topics under "friends started". I find there are usually a lot of discussions started by friends that I'm interested in. I guess there must be some sort of connection between my friends and I, or else we would not have become friends in the first place. Apart from what friends started, I find that there are usually many other interesting topics floating around, it's just our timing whether we happened to "catch" them. btw,I like your description of the admin being a referee, it's so apt. Have a nice day!
