Do You Text While Driving?

I do not. Moreover, there is a new law on the books in my city, and a few other cities in my State that make it illegal to text while driving. The fine is $100.00. As a matter of fact, one city in my State makes it illegal to eat, comb your hair, put on makeup, text, or talk on your cell while driving. Is there a law in your city against texting, while driving? If there was a law would you obey it? Personally, I do not text while driving. In addition, I pull over to dial. I do not answer the cell, while driving now. I just think that it is dangerous, and it causes serious accidents, and death. What do you think?

Nope not at all I don't want to get a ticket or worse cause an accident. There are many distracted drivers that need to keep their eyes on the road instead of their phones. When I was coming back from a trip with some classmates I saw this woman on her phone texting....it was traffic hour so she must have figured it would be safe for her to be texting and driving at the same time. In between the stop and go of cars she swerved so many times she almost hit our bus...where was a policeman then?

I don't text and drive. That's too dangerous. I already break enough traffic laws myself from just plain motoring about (I admit, I like to speed). People just try to do too much in their cars these days. I try to avoid using my phone while driving. The people that drive here already drive fast and that is normal traffic, I can talk on the phone while keeping up with the traffic pushing 80mph. I have heard about the law about doing anything else other than driving will get you a ticket. Its sound like an area that I live near Iequate2. If you drive down 696, then I know exactly what you are talking about.

I actually don't drive that fast. In fact, I no longer own a car (engine's find the strangest times to die). I work in that area, and with construction literally everywhere, revenues about to skyrocket. Don't you love our little "autobahn"?

I do not text whilst i drive, neither do i answer phones, eat, or do anything else for that matter. THe most i go to is talk to someone who is in the car with me, but even then, i am not the most talkative of people whilst driving. It really annoys me, when me as a new driver gets charged so much for insurance, when i am surronded on a road by other people talking on their phones, driving quickly, joining and leaving lanes without indicated, all with much lower insurance. How come i get charged so much when im not the one doing all that?

Hello fpsninja. Thanks for responding. I must admit, since the law went into effect, I do not see that many people texting. People are still talking on their cells. "Redline" Insurance..Could be why your insurance is high. Your age, and where you live, if you do not have tickets are other reasons. :)

Its true, i am only 19 and a new driver, but for example, if i wanted to get insuranced on my old car (now sadly scrapped) it would have been around £2000 for a year. The car itself was worth less than £100! I would have to completely total my car 20 times a year to get the money back that i was paying! No, infact, that wouldnt work either, as my volutary excess was more than the car was worth!

Hello Iequate. There are strict laws here concerning the use of mobile phones when driving. Drivers can only talk via hands free and it's strictly forbidden for them to read or send a text. Eating, putting on makeup and anything else that will take the driver's eyess off the road is illegal too. I think those laws make perfect sense because far too many people are killed due to carelesness on our roads.

That's crazy to text and drive. Where we live, there have been fatal head-on collisions resulting from seconds looking away from the road. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_T2nj-sczo
