Sometimes we become victims of negative thinking because we believe that focusing on all that has gone wrong will provide us with the motivation we need to face the challenges of survival. Do you believe this?

I believe in the "Boomerang Theory" Focus on bad stuff, more bad stuff will come right back at ya. Focus on the good stuff, more good stuff will come back at ya.

It's no problem. It's one of those things if it works for you, awesome! If it doesn't..back to reading life coaching books.

Yes Pose, Negative thinking can be motivating. However I must mention that the person involved must be capable of understanding that the Negative thoughts are momentary and that person must have the intelligence to convert this into the positive thinking. Otherwise, the person ends up with Negative thinking only

For some people, yes! Sometimes when people are told that they cannot do anything, they will turn that around and prove those people wrong, and trust me, it is a great feeling when you prove other people wrong.

All negative actions come from negative thoughts. Without the thought there would be no action. That's the way the system works. This means you have two times to make the choice to change from negative to positive.

It depends on the person that is doing the thinking. If they are like me, too much negative thinking will probably do something crazy like kill myself. Or you might be the sort of person who thinks negatively so much that they decide to put a stop to it, I'm not sure if that's negative thinking though... Because you are probably not thinking completely negatively or you'd not have the motivation to change things.

Hi parrot,I don't recommend negative thinking, but for some people negativity is a challenge, but you have to be a very positive person or you won't make it. Blessings.

Boy did you just open my eyes. I Feel stupid to have never thought about that, but you have just discribed my ex husband to a T. He definately does focus on all negative wrong doings and he's always scrambling around the challenges of every day living and yet refuses to face anything or anyone head on. Thank You for this post, no doubt there are many who could learn something from what you said, besides just me. Take Care my Friend.

Negative thought does not victimize a motivational thinker! To such a person,' A problem is an opportunity in work clothes!' No need to shut the Stable door after the horse has got out. As the old saying goes - "If he can't get up, he can't get out!"

Maybe when its like a reserve psychology kind of thing then it could be something that can motivate you to do something. In your discussion I think it kinda says that if you are going to have so many negative things in your life and how you can make them work out for you positively. Well, are you familiar with the story of Job in the Bible? Well, his life is a very good example.

Hi p3ks, I really don't believe that negative thinking works. The story of Job is something different but certainly quite unique. Thank you for sharing. Blessings.

Hi pose, It would be possible if a person has a very matured thinking and is clear-headed enough to pull himself out of the negativeness and turn the other way towards positiveness. Cheers for a great topic!

I think both positive and negative thinking could be taken as some motivation for our to face challenges. The negative thinking remind you that if you not work hard, what you will have to face in the future. People could do some things beyond their thinking if they do not have any other choice.

I believe it's how an individual sees things. Negative thinking can motivate when one is optimistic. This is because optimism allows one to convert negative thoughts into positive ones. People who are optimistic always see the good in the bad things that happen to them. So yeah, negative thinking does motivate people. However, I don't think the same thing could be said to those who are pessimists. Negative thoughts could only bring them down.

Hi jerijames, Thanks for sharing this and it's certainly a different way of looking at the situation, but you would have to be an optimistic or positive person before it could work. Negative thinking brings most people down. Blessings.

I'm trying to be positive all the time and to stay far from negativism, because it's easy for it to catch me and put my smile down. I don't know is there such kind of dependence, but i think it's good when you are trying to give the best of you, at the same time, you are thinking how good that will finish. And for me, it works :) Thinking negative makes me too worried and i can't handle that. Cheers wish some juice and hugs :)

Being pessimistic never motivates a person, in my own opinion. It just gives discouragement.

I believe that negative thinking can be a source of motivation but most often than not, it will not give a fruitful result because we did not have the right motivation. Negative thinking will always hamper any positive vibes that should be there for us. It will always create a notion that we can never do things successfully.

Hi bokal, I agree that negative thinking usually does more harm than good. If it works for anyone they are very few. Thanks for your comment. Blessings.
