How can I install and use Skype freely on a mobile?

I am a freelance writer. I am just in the process of being awarded an article rewriting contract of CAN$ 500, which is the biggest project I ever dreamed of so far!!
But the guy told me that everything was set to go and call him up by his skype ID!!!
I don't understand how to go about getting free services of SKYPE.
Can anyone guide me?

Go to www.skype.com and download skype for mobile phones. Install it on your mobile. But first you will need to make sure that Skype supports your mobile phone. If you did not find your phone model in the support list, you will not be able to use Skype on your phone. Skype's service will be free if you use a wireless network. If you use internet from your phone network, you will be charged for connecting to the internet.

what I need is a step by step (spoonfeeding!) guideline after installing skype in your mobile.
