Has anyone got a copy of the details of 171 MILLION facebook members? What do you think the hackers can possibly do with it? I have an open profile because that was the DEFAULT and I didn't bother changing it. SO chances are my profile is in it.... How about you? Did you change the default settings of FB after you joined? And what will the hackers do with our informations?

First of all, I don't post ANYTHING on Facebook or anywhere else online which would be of any use to anyone anyways (No address, NO phone number, NO social security number, etc.).......and I suggest everyone else do the same. ANYTHING you post online is there for anyone who has the know how to see! Second, I've read about this file, and from what I understand, the only information it contains is your name and the URL to your FB home page........the same information somebody can get by just typing your name into Facebook's search bar. Your local phone book probably has more information on you than this file does.........unless you're unlisted of course. Also as mentioned by diamania, this file is HUGE!!! Not too many people are going to download it anyways. You wouldn't leave your banking, or any other personal information about yourself laying around for anybody to find in the real world.......in the same way, you shouldn't post things you don't want people to see online.........believe me, SOMEBODY will figure out how to look at your stuff. I think the most that will happen, is people with this list might be able to access your email address and send you a bunch of spam emails. If you're anything like me, you get a bunch of those everyday anyways......and you know where they go.......right to the junk folder. So, I wouldn't worry about it too much, just don't put anything out there that will come back to haunt you........whatever will be, will be.

The files were probably in the 5 to 15 GB range. One file on it´s own was already 5 GB... people had problems opening it on their computer xD

Depends on what the files contained. I do happen to know that the files are several GBs in size ( I heard about it from an internet marketeer), so not everyone will be downloading them anyway.

Herro damned_dle Oh my, I guess I am too security conscious. I didn't even pass my facebook to friends and family until I had performed security features. In addition, I only have 4 categories: friends (people I really know), family, church and RV organization. If one slips through, as she did yesterday, I go in and immediately delete. She wasn't on my list 5min. I know a hacker could do tons if they had the equipment to copy my info in that short time. I realize that is a risk, but one I have to take to have my facebook, which I love. Prosperous mylotting

I don't know.. maybe slow things down or something??? Sometimes the loading of pages on Facebook is so slow.. from one interface to the other.. so I don't know if it has got anything to do with it or not. My FB is tight-lid and on private. I just keep it that way, no special reason..

I do not put my address or phone # on facebook like some do. Plus my profile is private which I recommend. Anthing you do not want the general public to know do not put on there.
