Thinking about a new computer...

I'm thinking about buying a new computer within the next couple of months, most likely a laptop. I do not know much about what makes a computer good. The computer I have now has Windows Vista and I am not loving it. I'm wondering if Windows 7 is significantly better, or if I should save up more for a Mac? I'd also like a built-in webcam for easier skyping- does a webcam make a big price difference? Thankyou in advance for your input. :)

now-a-days all lap tops are embedded with web cam and the win 7 probably all you have to do is select a trusted brand and model while it depends on you in india most prefer dell its quite cool and affordable and to know more which model send me in what you are using lap top for gaming or for surfing only i think using mac will be also good but different with windows

I'm thinking of buying one too. Our computer is almost 5yrs old. And it's freakin slow. I mean really really slow. That's why I always use my laptop. I'm not using my computer anymore. I'm thinking of buying Asus EEE box, or EEE top PC. They have a pre installed windows 7, and a really nice specs.

Maybe I can be wrong but I believe If you like me running for long period of time some applications (Internet, homevideo, music etc...) and are concerned for batteries. better a desktop pc and cheaper. Laptop I will use it only on the move and with wireless connection. Try to ask for batteries duration first for laptop. I think you can have till 11hours now on small screen, need to be simple just for what you expect: save your money for PC Desktop for real job.
