For a while i've been trying to lose weight and look fit. I've done good a few times but then I would just atop and gain the weight right back. I joined planet fitness and started going to the gym regularly. I started losing weight and buildingy muscles up. I have to admit and I'm not trying to toot my own horn but I was looking real sexy. Lol. But last year in September I went on a cruise and ate, ate, ate and no workout. By the time I returned from my vacation I had lost my zeal to workout and withing two months, the weight that I had lost quickly came back. Three weeks ago my girlfriend and I decided to try Shawn T's Insanity Workout. I was really skeptical at the time and also scared because of the commercials I saw. The workouts seemed so vigorous but I couldn't complain unless I tried. I finally tried Insanity and in the first week and a half I lost 12 lbs. And I'm still doing it. Yes it's hard but it's showing me some major improvements on my body. Has anyone else tried any other workout regimens or The Insanity workout or even P90x workout? How was it or is it going for you? What do you use as motivation? And how much weight have you lost. What's your goal weight?

I just started the Insanity workout today with the fit test, so I am excited to get into it and see the results. I agree that the commercials were motivating but also kind of scary. I have always been an athlete and workout out, but need a new program to stay motivated and kick things up a notch. I would be really happy to lose 20 lbs or so, but 40 would be great :) Will see how the next few months go.

I also find it very hard to diet so now I try to eat healthy and eat little carbohydrates and more protein. I also wake up early and go for a half an hour walk every day at 6.15 before going to work. Once a week I have joined a latin american dance programme called Zumba Dancing. This is a vigorous dance work out of one hour in which we are told that we loose about 1000 cal. I'm finding it real good and I like dancing though I've never tried it before. I would like to loose the from my tummy as for a time I did not do any exercise and the fat piled up! As to weight, I only weigh 55 kilos so I am not exercising to loose weight but to tone up.

adjusting the type of workouts i do keeps me enthused and motivated. i try not to do too much at once. i've found out in the past high intensity-low duration workouts work best to build strength for me.

The best workout is just living healthy and moderately. No need to go to the gym and stuffs like that. And when you think of losing weight, it just put stress in your workout and in your life. Life is short to just minding your weight. Losing weight is not that really healthy. Putting more weight is neither. My advice to you is in my first sentence. Eat well and healthy. Lessen vices and excessive bad lifestyle. Keep fit by walking and running. Drink fresh juices. All in all, you have to have a common sense. You know what's good for you. Its really your call.

I'm a certified aerobics instructor & also have a very extensive collection of workout DVDs at home so have tried out tons of things!!! I have tried Insanity & it is definitely a tough workout system so good for you & your girlfriend for sticking with it! In order to lose weight you need to combine the exercising with healthier eating and stick with it. By healthier eating, I don't mean dieting because no one sticks with a diet. More like slowly adding in healthier foods to your diet, replacing white bread with wheat bread, adding more veggies to your meals, using low fat sour cream or substituting greek yogurt for mayo. These little things really add up & will help you drop the pounds. The most important thing with developing a workout regimen is to make it a habit. That means doing it even when you don't feel like it and eventually you will enjoy working out and miss it when you don't get a workout in for more than a couple of days. You have made a great start by working out with your girlfriend, that way you guys can motivate each other if one of you is not in the mood to work out that day. Also, Insanity is a tough workout and for me, it's not really fun (I like intricate choreography but most guys like the more basic choreography so I'm sure Insanity is right up your alley) but if you start getting burned out on Insanity, try switching to something less intense. To me, variety is what keeps me working out on a regular basis. You may want to look into getting the P90x program, it's a great one for anyone looking to build muscle and gain strength. It is more strength oriented than Insanity so you would need to have some heavy weights but so many people have gotten great results with it. Keep up your routine & I'm sure both you & your girlfriend will benefit both physically & mentally!
