Usually in the summer there are local Shakespeare festivals to be found. Some are free to go to like the one in Redlands, CA and some charge a fee like the one in Conway, AR. Either way it is a good way to see Shakespeare plays live. I love reading the plays and I have enjoyed the movies of Shakespeare plays I have seen but there is really nothing like seeing the plays live especially if the performance is good. I attended both the Redlands and Conway Shakespeare festivals this year and was privileged to be able to see Hamlet and Comedy of Errors live. These are the only two plays I have ever seen live and Hamlet was phenomenal which was great because it it is my favorite. I plan to attend as many of these festivals as possible because I would like to be able to see every Shakespeare play live at least once. Have you ever been to a Shakespeare Festival? Was it good? Which plays have you seen live?

Hamlet is my favourite too! I've loved it since studying it at A-Level in my teens. I've been to a couple of Shakespeare festivals, but not for years. I'd love to go again. I've seen several live productions of plays including the Royal Shakespeare Company's production of Hamlet. Samuel West was playing the title character and he was wonderful. I've lost count of how many times I've seen A Midsummer Night's Dream. The best one was an outdoor performance in the Cardiff Castle grounds. Everyone brought their own picnic and the sun was setting. Lovely. When I was in School we did a production of The Taming of the Shrew and I got to play Katherine. One of my best memories!

Sounds like you have seen a few of the plays. I bet seeing the Royal Shakespeare Company was a treat! That is very cool. I don't think I could ever be in a play I would be too nervous but I bet it was fun. The Hamlet I saw was outside and we brought a picnic to eat, it was quite a treat.

It was extra special being in Stratford upon Avon, which is Shakespeare’s birthplace and his house is there for people to look around. It’s so fun to feel a part of it all. I’m lucky to be British sometimes!
