I have a problem with this, I have a FaceBook profile, I don't post often, but I do read and observe other comments and posts. I mostly look at the photos. Well my granddaughter is on my friends list so her post are visible to me. Out of all the people on my list,( both young and older) she is the only one that use this type of speech, here is one of her post...Des boyz swea dey coolin countin money..!! lol but playboy wy yo shoes dirty.??!!, well to me this make her sound illiterate. I know this is just slang language, but you have to know my granddaughter to understand where I am coming from. I would like to say something to her about this, but she doesn't have the nicest of attitudes. I am debating about speaking to her about this way of relating her messages.
My question is: Would you try to speak to her about this or just let it ride?

Since it just the typical slang of the day, I'd let it ride. Unless I was feeling incredibly ornery then I might post something like "I wonder how you many to pass your English class since you cannot write it"
Sometimes my granddaughter or her friends writie something that I don't understand at all and I usually just leave a comment telling them to help an old man out and explain the comment

Thank you for your response, I wish I could tell you more about this particular granddaughter, but I will leave well enough alone, let it ride, but I will be keeping my eyes and heart on her. Sometime I wonder if she really knows better. WOW!

It's always nice to follow kids and grandkids, ya never know what you will find out
A while back, my teenaged granddaughter put her Skype phone number in a post and I immediately sent her an email explaining why this was not a great idea. She agreed and took it away
Most of the time my grandkids think I am "cool" for an old guy, but sometimes I have to remind them that I am still feeling parental

All we can do is to advise these young people to mind their language. Young people are imitators and consider slang language as the in thing. When we tell them off they will think we have no business to interfere in their life. So let them live their life as teenagers and they will grow up to improve themselves as time passes by.

Granddaughter or not, she needs to be called upon it because it does look like she's illiterate. So what if she cops an attitude! I'd call her on that too! She needs to learn to respect you and not cop an attitude and I'd tell her so! So no I wouldn't let it ride. Better that she learns now than later on down the road when she gets a job and has to type up something on the computer..... that is, if she has a job that requires a computer. Even still, she needs to learn how to talk right.

I tee totally agree. She really needs correcting on a lot of things. She has an attitude that really stinks. But thank God I am not going to give up on her. I am going to break her or make her.
I had an encounter with a teenager tonight at Revival. This teenager also had a bad attitude attack. I wonder if it is something in the AIR.

Knowing me i would probably say something about it. If she has an attitude she probably want like it but that does seem silly for her to talk like that.

Teens are hard to deal with but her parents better start dealing before it's too late& she gets out of control. I'm sure this worries u, it would me.

Hi Chevee,
I think its awful that young peole don't speak the given language these days, well look at the texts they sent to each other, I would mention it if it was granddaughter, my friends' daughter has her profile on FaceBook and she some swears on it, it is not nice to read it, so I told my friend about it and she did speak to her daughter about and now this girl don't tye swear words anymore.
