Do you "People watch"?

For some people "People watching" is considered a hobby. So do you watch people as their walking down streets or just taking a stroll around the park? Do you watch people driving in their cars or shopping at stores? Well, do you "People Watch". I do but I don't do it to criticize people. I do it because I enjoy seeing how every person has their own individual characteristics. I like to see how every one has their own style of clothes, hair, and shoes. I also like to see the different features on peoples faces. It amazes me how some people can be completely opposite and how others are alike. Oh ya my favorite place to "people watch" is in my car. I like to see what other people are doing while they drive. I was surprised to see how many people do their makeup or talk on phone while they drive. Don't worry I don't drive so I can't get distracted and crash into someone.

I love people watching. Especially when I was younger and had the luxury of time, I would sit and observe people - their manners, their faces, their clothes, whatever. When I was studying I would people watch at the library whenever I'd tire of reading my books. When I ride public vehicles, I'd do the same (especially when I'm stuck in a really, really heavy traffic). Sometimes, I make up stories about those people in my mind. Lately I love looking at people's eyes (of course, when they're not looking at me) and study the features - lashes, eye color, etc.) No, I don't stalk Once I get off the public transport, I forget about the people I "watched". During meetings, I also like watching people's actions and reactions. Sometimes, it's so funny, especially when the boss is in one of his out-of-this-world moods. I see attempts to control a pout, or shaking hands, or non-stop twirling of pens. One time, I caught somebody sleeping, and I couldn't believe it because the boss was blowing his top off and this gal had the audacity to sleep through it!

Lol! I have caught so many people sleeping but in my classes. Well actually once I caught a guy sleeping on a sofa at a furniture store and I stood there and watched for a while. It's also interesting how people react to different things. I wouldn't consider looking at people's features as stalking more as being observant.

I don't people watch that often. Maybe I'd do it while waiting for something like in a coffee shop or lounge area. I don't like doing it because I'm prone to making comments on the people I see, especially if I am with my friends. LOL! That's why I woudl rather not do it. If I do find myself alone while waiting, I'd rather read a book or something. Besides I don't like it if I get caught looking at someone. LOL!

Lol! I have actually been caught looking at someone. It was hilarious well to me it was. I was going on a trip to a relatives house and since it was like a 2 hour drive I just looked outside my window at people in their cars. Then this one guy caught me starring at him and he just starred back at me. His stare was kind of creepy....maybe he was starring like that because he thought my stare was creepy too.

Hahaha! That must be the case. I bet you were laughing after the staring battle you had with that guy. LOL! Still quite embarassing right?

Yep it was embarassing. But it was still fun and I told my siblings about it and they agreed that the guys stare was kind of creepy. He definitely won the starring battle. I was surprised that he was driving at the same time.

I do like to people watch, but since I don't get out much any more, its mostly from my car as well. There's this one guy walking, well dancing actually, around the area. I've seen him on the corner by our street out of the neighborhood and I've seen him down around the major street doing this. Looks strange, but he looks like he's happy.

I see that some, mostly they just wave - the hotter it gets, the less they move around

I don't do so, I may briefly see people what they're doing and what naturally would catch my sight, but to the point of following them every single move, not at all. When I'm driving, I focus on the road where I'm driving and take precautions, when let's say I reach a traffic light, I don't "People Watch", I would normally just stare at something, a banner, another vehicle, the sky, while I'm thinking, just thinking. And then the light turns green.

I don't think anybody would really actually take the time to follow a person's every single move. I think watching people briefly and what they're doing would be characterized as "people watching" especially since you watch what they do. Anyways I don't like to stare at people because that's just embarrassing. People can easily misunderstand a stare. That's why I just glance at people here and there. I can easily catch their unique characteristics with a simple glance. As for driving well I don't drive so I look at my surroundings.

I enjoy watching people but I don't really do it as a pastime, only when I'm in a mall waiting for a friend or in a park by myself.

Well I don't know it I would consider "people watching" as a hobby either. I usually do it when I have nothing else to do like on a long drive or like you mentioned when waiting for a friend. Though I do enjoy it.

I love people watching, though I admit, I criticize some, specially with their hair, make up and clothes.. sometimes when I see people, I think of what hair would look great on them, or what clothes. And what I like doing sometimes is that I think of their names, cause I really believe that names would mostly describe a person, and my sister and I loves doing this when we are waiting for someone.. we think of a most appropriate name for a person, and the funny thing is, we almost always would think of the same name. Heheheh. It's really an eye-opener when you watch people, you see them react to places, people and the environment, and with my people watching, I can now read lips easily, it's something I learned when I watch people, specially couples when they argue or fight. Heheheh.

Yes I don't like to look at people for a long time. I just look at them with a quick glance here and there. When people stare at me It really bothers me and I feel as though they are judging me about my appearance. This reason is why I don't looks at people for long.

I only people watch when I'm bored. I was volunteering at the library for awhile and I didn't feel like reading, so I just watched the people. It's entertaining to some extent. I bet people do stranger things then eating, drinking doing their makeup or talking on the phone while they drive.

I'm too busy and quite embarrassed to do so. If I'm waiting for someone. I glance to people but not that long, avoiding the fact that they will mistake it for something. It's being observant to people but, it really doesn't apply in my personality. But as long as they don't see you doing that, it's ok to be aware of different looks and personality of people that you see in the streets.

Sometimes it can be embarrassing especially when they look back at me. Your right that some may mistake it as something else for example they might think that I don't like their appearance or perhaps the opposite but I'm glad nothing of that sort has happened.

Somtimes I like to drive by the neighbour hood, no purpose, just have a look around and relax. I guess that's my "People Watch"

Ya I guess it would count as people watching. Since there's kids out playing and people walking around. Well it depends on your neighborhood. If I were to take a drive around my neighborhood I wouldn't see anybody outside.

Where I come from, there are so many people its more like watching out for people than actually watching people. But yes, watching people can be quite enjoying. I have done this in Central Park a few times. On a sunday pick a bench that is stategically located and watch all the characters stroll by. Truly amusing passtime.

Yes, when I am in my car or when travelling. I find people fascinating. I hope it doesn't seem rude to people. Especially, in contexts where people do not normally make eye contact.

I love people watching, because it allows me to observe people's natural behavior. As someone interested in studying psychology this truly fascinates me and will entertain me for long periods of time.

"People watching" is one of my all time favorite hobbies. Right up there with reading ;) Like a few above me said, I don't do it to stalk. I am just interested in how different people of one common race (the human race) could differ so in mannerisms, reactions, and appearance. I love going to South Street in Philadelphia PA and sit at one of the restuarants and just watch the world go by. Philly is such a great place to people watch just because of the diversity of people all living in that city. I also love going to Atlantic City, NJ and sit on the casino floor and watch people there...or the boardwalk is a great place to watch many walks of life pass you by ;)

It's interesting to people watch. I take the bus to work and there are always all kinds off different people going where ever they going.

I like to people watch. When people don;t know they are being observed, you ca learn a lot about their behavior. You can get insight into human nature just by watching other people. Some people can just make you laugh with their antics while others leave you guessing.
