Does anyone still name their Kid Maria?

In the 80s people still name their kid Maria. I know a few people with that name but today I'm not sure that parents still name their kids with that name. I saw an article that people are naming their kid either Bella, Edward or Jacob. This might be due to the Twilight trend. Do you know other names that parents don't use now?

Its a good post for the names , nowadays people are not naming their kids name like Maria etc. Name trends changes time to time a sper movies are main cause of changing names and some times celebrities affect this aslo like in india whern Sania MIRZA was much famous. I have seen so many sania's in my my locality.

I agree with you. I guess names is just like fashion. Some names go out of style. Thanks for the response.

but for me it the uniqueness matters when naming a child, it would be her/his first identity.... happy mylotting

Maria is still a common name. I know a lot of people named Maria. Parents nowadays are not choosing that name for their children. Thanks for the response

There are still girls whose name starts with Maria and then a second name (ex: Maria Lourdes, Maria Elena, Maria Leonora) but with Maria alone, they are getting rarer just like Juan or Pedro.

Yes i do agree with you that there are still a lot of Marias out there. But there my age or only a few years younger. Parents nowadays are rarely naming their kids Maria. Well there are still a lot of Juan or Pedro. I mean people are still using the English equivalent (John and Peter). Thanks for the response

I don't know if people still names their kids Maria. I think time has already changed and people are more inclined to name their children to characters they always see in the movies or in the television.

I do agree with you that the movies, books and tv shows is a big factor in choosing names nowadays. Thanks for the response
